Manglepaw shook her head,"No. Want to try down by the lake or river?" She asked as she caught no other scent. "We can always try fishing for a bit. Even if we catch nothing, we have two things of fresh-kill for camp." At least they wouldn't go back to camp empty pawed.

Coppergaze looked up and smiled at Dottedclaw,"No thank you. I am not hungry but as wouldn't mind sharing a story. Would you like to hear about when I had to face a fox as an apprentice or when a fire happened in camp?"

" I would like to hear the fox story if you wouldn't mind. " replied Dottedclaw

" So who is the father?" Asked Dottedclaw

Softfall looked down. "Hollyclaw." She said quietly.

" He very lucky to be your mate and father of these wonderful kits." purred Dottedclaw

Softfall nodded. "Or used to." She said very quietly, probably just loud enough for Dottedclaw to hear.

Coppergaze nodded as he got into a comfortable crouching position. "I was eight moons at the time and known as Copperpaw. My mentor sent me out to hunt for the clan on my own. It was my first solo hunting mission on my own. It was barely newleaf so the clan needed prey as the prey was just starting to return. I had found a rabbit so I stalked it for a bit until I was able to get close enough. I managed to catch and kill it. Just as I was about to hide it under a bush, I heard a growl behind me and spun around. There stood a large hungry fox! It hard scars on its muzzle, showing it was used to fighting. It growled again, clearly wanting me rabbit but as wasn't about to give it up! So I arched my spine and hissed, swiping a paw at it. Neither one of us were backing down and I knew I would need to act quickly. The fox lunged forward and I jumped up and landed on its back. Digging my claws in, I began clawing at its red fur as it yelped and snapped at me. Suddenly it's jaws closed on my tail and yanked me off. I thought I was a goner but as I dangled upside down, an idea came to my mind. Reaching down, I scooped dirt up with my paw and flung it at the foxes face. It released my tail as dirt got in its eyes and it was temporarily blinded. Taking my chance, I clawed at its chest and nose until I sent it running off, tipping with its tail between its legs!" Coppergaze let out a soft purr at the memory.
