John was breathing hard, and kept his eyes closed. "I'm not done yet..." he said slowly standing. "Hougen wont take Dakota away from me... Not today!" he snarled, running off.

Lillith continued charging after Hougen and his followers, determined not to give up. They had gotten far ahead of her now, and she was relying mainly on her sense of smell and their footprints in the snow to follow them.

Mel's ears flattened in distress, "John! Wait!" he called after him. He glanced sideways at Gin before turning and running painfully after John, the wounds in his neck and leg slowing him down.

John turned around to see Mel slowly running. "Mel! your too hurt for this! Hougen could kill you! Stay back with Gin!" he called out, soon slowing to a limp.

"Mel's ears flatened against his skull again, "No! I'm not leaving you to face him on your own!" he replied, trying to keep the shakyness out of his voice. He knew he could be nothing more than a burden, but perhaps he could be a distraction long enough for John to help Dakota, and that was all he was aiming to do. He gritted his jaw stubbornly and continued to move as fast as he could towrds the way Hougen had gone.

"Ugh, fine..." John said, cracking a smile and cantering on.

Mel gave a short half grin before trying to keep up with John, "Which way did they go?" he mumbled, more to himself than John.
