As Silverstar jumped down the highrock, she noticed Spiderkit aimlessly walking around the camp. “ Hello, little one. You seem a bit bored. Perhaps you would like me to play with you? You must be bored with nobody to play with. “ Silverstar hoped Spiderkit would agree. She absolutely adored kits, and hoped to have her own one day. But I can’t trust any toms around here. Silverstar glanced at Nightscar, speaking with Foxblaze about something she couldn’t quite hear. He’s not interested in you, Mouse-Brain. A small voice told her. She snapped her attention back to Spiderkit, hoping he would be interested in playing a game with her.

Silverstar realized that Spiderkit had wandered off while she was talking. i must have looked like a fool! She thought, her pelt burning hot with embarrassment. She noticed Nightscar had grabbed a thrush, and she smelled a foul scent, and panicked for her Deputy. She ran up to him, and snatched the thrush just before he could take a bite. “ Uhm, I... “ She noticed every cat had their eyes on her. Instead of talking, she just raked the thrush’s belly Open, and the foul smell of crow-food filled the air. Oh StarClan, you could have gotten so sick! Relief flooded over her, and then fear slammed it away. What If Nightscar gets mad at me? She thought. “I-I’m sorry! “ She blurted out.

She shook her head. “ That’s okay, Nightscar. I’m not hungry, I ate earlier.” She lied. The vole looked tasty, but she would rather have another cat eat it, one that works hard She thought. Prey was decent, but there was never enough to feed her growing clan. Especially with new mouths coming to feed. Dapplepool had told Silverstar that Poppystep’s litter was going to be a large one - about four or five kits. The fact that LeafClan was gaining more, and more territory each day didn’t help. Owlstar would have fought to the death for this territory. What did you do? Nothing. She padded into her den, and laid down on her nest.

Silverstar padded over to Poppystep, and gave her a large, plump, fresh fish. “ I know you aren’t the most fond of fish, but I went and caught it myself for you. I noticed you haven’t had anything to eat, and there wasn’t too much on the fresh-kill pile. “ Silverstar wondered for a moment how Poppystep’s kits would look. A tiny spark in her hoped she would beable to name one, just as Owlstar had named her, since her litter was the first under his leadership. If only I could have my own kits, then I would beable to name all of them. She thought, with a longing. “ If you don’t wan’t it, I can go fetch something else. “ She wanted to shuffle her paws like a new apprentice, being praised for the first time. I hope Poppystep will be happy with her kits, she deserves a break.
