Cloudstar nudged the kit lightly. "Hey, don't cry. Your safe." She said to the kit soothingly. She had always loved kits. Turning to Tigerleaf she added, "Go fetch Hazelfur and the medicine cat." She turned back to the kit. "Can you tell me your name?" She added quietly

After hearing the kit's cries for a few moments, the tortoiseshell she-cat decided she should get something to eat, then go hunting.

Awoken by the cries of a kit, the gray tabby tom groaned and heaved himself to his paws.

"J-Jinx." The deformed kit answered after after calming down a bit but he was still quite obviously distressed. He didn't have much practice with speaking since neither his parents nor his siblings talked to him much but he had heard that word all too much. So much, it had become what he assumed was his name. Even his spoken words were duplicated by multiple mouths.

Hazelfur
I awoke with a start. I had been having a nightmare. When I calmed down, which took no more than a few seconds, I gave Ivykit a few licks.

Leopardberry
I looked around camp as I saw a group of gathering cats. Wondering what in the works was going on, I went over to get a peak for myself.

I padded over to Cloudstar. "Cloudstar what's going o-" I stopped when I saw the kit. "Another? I'm not complaining, but I still can't believe how a mother could just abandon their kit."

Ivykit's head bobbed under Hazelfur's tongue. He didn't say anything, just pondered his still fairly new life. After the quick morning grooming given to him he looked up at her. She was alright, he didn't dislike her anyhow.

Riverwish stretched looking out of her den to see Tigerleaf padding up to her, "Oh what is it?" she asked her brother.
"Found another kit in the forest, Cloudstar wants you to have a look." She laughed as she stood up, "You found another one? Are you the patron saint of lost kits now?" She giggled. He muttered something before stalking off, though she couldn't tell if he was angry or embarrassed. She padded outside, warriors conversing amongst each other, "how could someone abandon their kit?" "where did he come from?" Others parted to let her through as she sat right in front of the little black kit. "Hello," she said sweetly smiling at him. His face was turned from her, so she took her paw to turn it center, shocked by what she saw. His face was disfigured, giving the appearance of dual faces. Her paw pulled away from him reflexively. "I know why someone abandoned this kit..." She said gravely.

Nightflower's large ears swiveled towards the nursery entrance as she listened to the cats outside. There was obviously something out of the ordinary going on based on the amount of voices and their tones. Eventually, curiosity got the better of her. She stood up and exited the den to try and see what all the ruckus was about.

"Leopardberry!" Bumblepaw called as he watched his mentor head towards the gathering group of cats. He was not interested whatsoever in the commotion surrounding some kit. He just got out of the nursery, he'd seen enough of kits. He wanted to actually train! He tried to step forward with the intent of following Leopardberry so that he could pester her about training but instead he fell, face first, flat on the ground. The tabby quickly scrambled to stand back up and forced himself to move more slowly so that he could actually walk forward this time.

Cloudstar looked at the kit with sorrow. The poor thing was abandoned for his looks?! "Riverwish, is he ok?" She asked

I padded over to Cloudstar. "Cloudstar what's going o-" I stopped when I saw the kit. "Another? I'm not complaining, but I still can't believe how a mother could just abandon their kit."

I looked up as my name was called. "Bumblepaw!" I padded over to him. "You ought to be more careful there."

I purred. I loved taking care of kits, even if they weren't my own.

I looked up as I heard my name called. "Bumblepaw!" I padded over to my apprentice. "You really ought to be more careful."

Jinx knew these cats were talking about him. About his appearance. He knew it wasn't normal. He didn't look like these cats, just like how he didn't look like anyone in his family. His mother had made him look at his reflection in a puddle before so he knew just how strange he looked when compared to a normal kit. He suddenly began to cry again because he was certain these cats were about to make him leave. Make him leave and be alone again.

Hearing the cries of a kit I stood up. "I'll be back soon Ivykit. I promise." I said, giving him a comforting nudge. I then padded out of the nursery and over to the bundle of cats. "What's going on, and why do I hear a kit crying?!" I asked.
