Birchlog's eyes widened slightly at the random comment that slipped out of the elder's mouth. He didn't say anything for a moment. The warrior started feeling bad. Even sometimes he felt like it was hard work being a warrior, and sometimes wanted to be a kit again. He hung his head. "Oh, Orchidtail," the tom started, "I wish I could help you, I really do. But the past is in the past now." Birchlog said quietly. "Atleast you lived a full life, and didn't die yet," he added, to try and make her feel better, but it sounded quite grim now that he heard himself say it.

The tom began to shiver, soon deciding to head back inside the warrior's den. He stopped and looked over at Nettlefall, "Greetings Nettlefall. Rather cold, is it not?"

The tom dipped his head, and rose to his paws, smiling. He began to exit the den, until a gust of frigid air ruffled his pelt. Crimsonfur shuddered, wishing he had never left his nest.

The old she-cat sighed, "Yes, you are correct. The past could never come back, no matter how much you want it to." Orchidtail glanced over at Birchlog, "I apologize for being a downer. These thoughts have just flooded my mind lately." She rested her head on her two extended paws, and tried to keep her head out of the past.

He headed out with Crimsonfur and braced the cold, though it didn't bother him very much. Soon, he noticed that the other tom was shivering, and he sidled up to him, trying to keep him warm as their pelts brushed.

The male nodded understandingly. "Ah, I understand. It happens sometimes. I feel the same way, sometimes I just want to cuddle with my mother, like when I was a kit," Birchlog said, his ears flicking slightly. "Well, how's it like being an elder? I would've thought it would be a nice life, not needing to do any work and all," the warrior asked curiously.

Crimsonfur felt Wildsky brush against his pelt, making him blush. He grinned slightly, and purred.

"For me, it is a mix of good and bad. It is good to be able to relax, and allow others to help you, and feed you. But, it grew rather boring. I was never really happy about the idea of having help. I always thought I was independent. That all stopped when-" She immediately changed her original response, too scared to even say the words aloud. "I realized, I could not always do that. I was getting older and, I did not want to. Everything always changes. There is no way to stop that." Her ears flattened, during a slight silence, "The subject seemed to have finally changed, and I brought it up again." She chuckled slightly then stopped, "I am sorry."

Acornpaw woke to chills even though Nettlefalls warm flank protected her. She peeped outside to see the snow higher, and the storm worse. She moved closer to Nettlefall in an attempt for warmth, and poked him gently with her muzzle."Nettle? The storm's gotten worse." She meowed quietly.
