Morningpaw saw Swanfeather was busy with Blackheart, so she snuck out of the den. She saw Yellowpaw in the clearing, and padded over to him. "Hey, Yellowpaw." She whispered, excitedly. "Wanna go to the river?"

"Alrighty, we cat slide on the ice!" He mrrowed, happily. He rubbed his pelt against Morningpaw's and purrsd.

She purred. She padded with him to the frozen river, flanks together. Right before they got there, she immediately smelled the scent of rabbit. She pinpointed it only a few fox lengths away, across the river. She signaled with her tail to Yellowpaw to show where the rabbit way, and carefully crouched onto the ice. Once she was about halfway across the ice, still staying upwind from the prey, the frozen layer of ice collapsed from under her paws. She fell into the freezing stream. She managed to keep her head above the rushes for a couple heartbeats, then fell under.

Yellowpaw noticed the rabbit too, but he knew it wasn't safe to go across as quickly as she had. Before he could stop her she fell through.

He tried to grab her scruff, but the freezing water weighed her pelt down. He jumped in and hauled her out, before pumping the water out of her. He flopped down on the snow and sighed. He had saved her life.

The tom dipped his head. "We also must be careful not to injure ourselves. We need as many warriors as we can during Leaf-bare." the tom slowly began to pad off into the river's direction.

The small cat flattened his ears to his head nervously. He did not like going to that stream. It always made him nervous. He has not heard of any stories about being there in leaf-bare, and nothing bad happening. None the less, he nodded anyway, following Wolftooth.

-Swanfeather-

"Morningpaw, I need you to-" His head snapped back to see the two apprentices gone. His ears flattened and his fur bristled with annoyance. She has been disappearing so often, that it seemed as if he did not even have an apprentice.

He flattened his ears and looked at his paws and muttered the words,"I'm sorry. I should have let Spider kill me in the first place..." He stalked off slowly through the snow covered clearing, lost in thought.

Once she landed safely onto the snow, and could breathe once more, she started shivering. Her short fur made it already quite difficult to stand the weather, but the extra layer of frost made it worse. "Guess I don't kn-now as much about hun-t-ting than I thought I d-id." She chuckled, stuttering from the cold.
