Fangpaw stared at his paws, then got up, looking out at the clan. "I remeber Swiftpaw was always overly eager for everything. It was quite annoying, but now I'm going to miss him," Fangpaw said in a sober tone, flattening his big ears.

Tears welled up in Blackheart's eyes. He was sitting solemnly with his kits and watching the burial of his mate and apprentice, so he was letting his heart out. "I will not let you two die in vain. I will avenge your deaths!" He yowled to StarClan.

Yellowpaw scooted close to the black male. He decided it was best to keep quiet, but he understood. Swiftpaw had been his friend and he'd died way too early. He wondered how he would feel if it had been Morningpaw that died instead and he felt a lone tear slip down his grey pelt and he dipped his head in respect.

Blackheart noticed the gray apprentice next to him but he ignored the small scrap of fur. "You said we would grow old together, y-y-you promised!" He mewed softly to his dead mate. He licked her forehead for the last time. "You wait for me, okay?"

Flintkit moved closer to her father, not being able to look at the body of Daisypetal any longer. Hiding her face in his fur, she mumbled quietly to Blackheart, "Why did they both have to leave us?"

"Swiftpaw was a keen apprentice, who I have no doubt will be missed dearly. Daisypetal was a formidable warrior and a caring mother. May they hunt with Starclan now" Hawkfang said, his head low and eyes not daring to look up and see the two, lifeless cats.

Blackheart nuzzled his small kit, "StarClan called them and said that it was their time. Now they will watch over us to make sure we do the right thing." He let Flintkit huddle against him.

(Sigh... i actually thought Swiftpaw would one day become Flintkits mentor...)

(I'm excited for the growth of Yellowpaw and Morning, and I'm quite excited to see how Acornpaw x Nettlepaw plays out. I think they'll be adorable.)
