"No, they're not hers. I left them with her because I trusted her to care for them while I talked to you," Flameleap shook his head as he spoke. "I... Please don't take offense for this but I want my kits to know their parents love each other. Our kits are perfect and I'll forever be grateful for you having them but I just... I wish that they could have known we loved each other. But they won't because we don't. We're simply friends and as your friend I want to know what is upsetting you."

Rosepaw briefly considered suggesting that he just take their kits and raise them with Barksnap then but she quickly decided against it. These were her kits, not Barksnap's, and she was going to raise them whether Flameleap wanted her to or not. "When you brought those kits to me I assumed you would be wanting me to take on the role of mother to them. You even mentioned it, in a way, by saying you could care for them on your own if I didn't want to raise them. And then you decided to name them on your own without even consulting me. Something that is the duty of the mother more often than not." Rosepaw didn't sound particularly angry when she spoke, and she really wasn't. It was merely a matter of feeling like her role had been belittled which resulted in her feeling as if he didn't actually want her to be a part of his new kits' lives. "I suppose it is my fault for assuming that I could assume the role of mother." She went on to say, "But if I can't be their mother I would rather they not stay with me." She figured that a kit who didn't see her as it's mother wouldn't bother listening to her as it grew older and she tried to scold it for any wrongdoings.

Redkit continued mewling. "Monsti! Monsti!" He tried to escape, matting down Rosepaw's fluffy tail fur with his tail and attempting to climb over. He was tempted by the smell of milk however, and stopped his epic crusade to waddle to his mother's stomach and nurse. He was completely unaware of his parent's conflict, and was perfectly content.

He ducked his head, ashamed of himself. Sure, he hadn't known that Rosepaw may want to mother his kits, but he should've given her the option to at least name one. "I'm sorry about that, I shouldn't have assumed that you wouldn't want to mother them. Honestly, I thought you were only willing to nurse then until they were weened and then just give them over to me to raise. But I shouldn't have assumed that. I should've instead asked what you planned to do," he said quietly. How foolish could he be? It wasn't his place to assume what Rosepaw would do.

Through nursing Redkit remembered something. Oh yeah, this was the big nice blur. He didn't need to run from it. The only things he needed to run from were the monsters. So he came up with a plan. The only word he knew in the weird language was monster, so why not use that to his advantage? He stopped nursing, waddled back to his mother's tail and looked back with pleading eyes as he gave out a squeak. He hoped she understood and would let him out, but if not he would just escape by force. He needed to safe the others from the big evil monster. He had his doubts that Flamekit was a monster but Barksnap definitely was, no doubt about it, and she definitely wanted to eat them.

Rosepaw drew in a deep breath which resulted in a drawn out sigh as she let it back out. "Well, the past can't be changed. What's done is done. I accept your apology." She was honestly quite happy that this didn't turn out to he some needlessly long and drawn out argument the way some cats' did with their own disputes and was fine with forgetting all about the issue since he seemed honestly sorry to her. She looked down at Redkit when he squeaked for attemtion and murmured, "You need to start using your words. You're plenty old enough. It'll get you further in life than squeaking will." She was fairly certain that he couldn't understand her or else he would actually be talking by now but she was beginning to grow concerned with her kits' lack of words. Even the younger ones Flameleap had brought her were already speaking better than her own.

While the squeaking was admittedly adorable, it worried him. Applekit and Creamkit were talking and here Redkit was, not speaking. If he could, he didn't speak much. "Do you know if Petalkit and Maplekit have started talking?" he asked.

Redkit frowned. Of course, he didn't understand as he had never really been taught and was left to figure things out on his own and his vocabulary mostly consisted of the word 'monster'. He squeaked again, this time more annoyed and urgent. There was no time to waste! Surely she understood simple squeaks.

"Not that I know of." Rosepaw replied without looking up at her mate. Admittedly, she probably hadn't spent enough time talking to them for them to learn but that was mostly because she didn't like to speak for no reason and to speak to kits who couldn't say anything in reply made no sense to her. Now though she realized that it might have helped their speech development. "Should I bring them back to the clan? No, they'll get too cold out in the open. Maybe another queen would let her kits come play with them." She spoke her thoughts out loud in hopes of getting Flameleap's input on his thoughts about what to do.

Redkit was baffled at their ignorance. COULDN'T THEY SEE?! THEY WERE IN DANGER! He waddled back up to his mother, got up as close to her face as she could and mewled loudly. She needed to free him so he could help the others!
