[ let's just pretend that inlet and the other inactive dragonets are already there :'> ]
abyss - with all the dragonets
"i'll stick with you guys as long as i can, though i'll probably have to find a river sooner or later," the currentwing informed peregrine, as he slipped snowshoe and pharaoh off his back and onto the smooth stone. they were slightly south of the forest - far away enough to be safe from the flames, but close enough to stay on their previously set path - on a bare outcrop that hanged above the sea. abyss lightly poked pharaoh in the chest with a flipper, thought he was still unconscious, from what he could tell. "we need to get some freshwater to help with the burns," he growled, glancing around. he didn't really know the best way to help with burns - he rarely got any, and currentwings healed reasonably fast from them. "there should be a pond or lake nearby. i think east. see if you can grab any." the skywing didn't move at first, glancing down at his friends with nervous amber eyes. "i just hope they make it," peregrine said with a shaky tone. abyss prodded him in the side. "they'll be fine as long as you get the water." with a glance at abyss, peregrine bounded off away from them, soon disappearing from sight behind the jagged rock spires that lay strewn about. abyss turned his attention to the direction of the desert, which wasn't far away, and the plains that collided with it. the best way to the mountains, but no less a long ways to go. currentwings could go on without being in water for quite a while, but it wasn't a good idea. abyss let his thoughts drift as he waited for peregrine, and a realization hit him. he had been gone far too long from his hunting party. could they have noticed his absence, or worse, him helping the mainlanders? it doesn't matter. you're in deep trouble if you help them or not, and there's no turning back now.
abyss snapped back to attention as the skywing returned, carrying what seemed to be a hollowed out stone filled with water, along with some large leaves. "perfect, thank you," he said to peregrine, who set the objects on the ground and stepped back, looking nervous and saying nothing. the currentwing snaked his head toward pharaoh and grabbed the palm leaf on his forearm and cleanly tearing it off with his teeth. afterwards, he dipped one of the leaves peregrine had brought into the water, draping it over the burns on the sandwing's arm. hopefully, he was doing this right, and the water would help. abyss did the same with his other burns, and to snowshoe as well. once he was done, abyss glanced up at the sky, estimating that it was about noon. in all that had happened, time had flown. he just hoped the two would wake up so they could leave before nightfall.
of course, abyss was unaware of all the dangers that would soon to be faced.
falcon - with no one
silent as she could be, the swiftwing was running fast as she could along the dry ground, thought she wasn't tired quite yet. she needed to get there as soon as she could, before the dragonets moved on - if they would at all. falcon still had a long ways to go, however, though the burning forest was coming closer and closer. heat pounded in her face and in her eyes, but from living near the desert for so long, swiftwings had adapted a sort of natural sunglasses that kicked in whenever they were in bright sunlight. falcon scanned the surrounding landscape, though she was obviously alone. nothing but high grass on one side and sand on the other. better to keep moving. if she was lucky, falcon could possibly run across them before night fell, if they moved around now. then she could strike.
