long ago, in the rebuilding of the dragon world after the scorching, several dinosaur-like tribes lived in a kingdom in pyrrhia they named haven. it stretched from jade mountain, to the clouds of the clouds, to the diamond spray delta. they lived in peace with the other tribes, forming allegiances and supply routes. these odd tribes had their own forms of leadership, and thrived in their utopia with seemingly endless food and water. but when the nightwing/icewing war struck, the tribes refused to fight for them and turned their backs to the warring two. furious, the icewings, then the nightwings, broke into haven and drove the tribes out. they fled, far overseas, and they swore their vengeance for their lost land. they found the isle, an island far south of the rainforest, and were never heard from again.

now, three thousand years since the exodus, seven dragonets from each tribe and lifelong friends, were sailing south on a boat. why, they cannot remember; to explore, to get some fresh ocean air, it doesn't matter now. a massive storm struck right at their location, and their boat capsized in the middle of the ocean. waterlogged, exhausted, they woke up shipwrecked hundreds, maybe thousands of miles from pyrrhia. the dragonets' arrival has stirred up trouble. long-buried hatred for the mainlanders has been rekindled, and now they're being hunted down by the swiftwings and all the tribes on the isle. maybe to demand information, or maybe just to kill to preserve their races from the icewings and nightwings.

time is of the essence, and these dragonets don't have much left.

the isle, or the 'lost continent', is a massive, crescent moon-shaped island, with another, smaller similarly-shaped island in it's bay. the landscape can only be described as beautiful. the northern and southern tips of the crescent, which face west, are both covered in a lush redwood forest which tends to catch fire due to their resident's recklessness. the fangwings have claimed both as their territory, but aren't afraid to wander into another tribes'. just east to the northern forest is a vast desert where both fangwings and swiftwings roam, though none of the others like to venture there for it's heat and seemingly endless dunes. stretching all along the eastern coast lies a range of quiet, snowy mountains, where the windwings call their home. within the mountains is a deep valley filled with water and cascades, where the windwings like to socialize. between the mountains and the bay is another, wider valley, filled with a lush pine forest and a series of large lakes. to the south lies a large rainforest where the venomwings call their home. between the desert and the main valley is a large plain very tall grass, where the swiftwings make their territory. they use it to their benefit by ambushing their prey unseen.

swiftwings. these dangerous dragons are raptor-like, with narrow jaws, large eyes, and powerful hind legs. they can go on both four and two paws, but prefer the latter, running at incredible speeds on two legs. their back talons sport a nasty, curved claw, capable of tearing through scales and easily through flesh. they have a feathery crest, running from the start of their snout to the base of their tail. it's usually brightly colored, though dark colors aren't uncommon, and is usually differently colored than their bird-like designs. they have feathers on the tips of their tails, and massive wings, though they do not fly very often. they can breathe fire at any temperature, but prefer to use their own teeth and claws. their eyes have a sort of natural sunglasses that kicks in whenever they're in bright sunlight. these dragons are also incredibly strong, even as dragonets, and an adult can easily overpower multiple dragons fighting against them. swiftwings are extremely intelligent, ruthless, and cunning. nothing get in their way once set on a particular goal. the more feathers tied to their horns or tails, the higher in rank they are, which includes leader, head warrior, and subordinates within a pack. swiftwings tend to name their dragonets after birds, and their coloring resembles that of various bird of prey.

fangwings. massive, carnotaurus-like dragons. fangs the size of a normal dragon's forearm, and pack a pretty nasty punch. twice the size of a normal dragon and twice as deadly. long, sharp, forward-facing horns adorn their large heads, perfect for charging. shorter, rounder jaws packed with a whole lotta teeth. long back legs allow large bursts of speed. their forearms are shorter, but still have long, curved claws for holding and tearing into prey. massive wings adorn their back, but fangwings prefer to stay on the ground. they have no particular pack system, but have a tribe leader like the rest. their colors range from umber to light brown and various shade of grey, usually having black markings with thinner red or gold ones inside.

venomwings. lithe dragons smarter than they look. long and agile, however somewhat slower than swiftwings. dilophosaurus-like dragons, venomwings have two brightly-colored crests adorning their snouts, narrow jaws lined with serrated fangs, and long back legs for sprinting. their forearms have long claws for gripping, mainly for the trees their rainforest home in the isle. they have slightly smaller wings then swiftwings, and are mainly used for gliding. venomwings can unhinge their jaws to spray venom, which is much more potent than rainwing and sandwing venom. if it lands anywhere on the body, you can guarantee almost instant death. their colors range from [ most commonly ] green, black, or red-gold, but anything in between isn't uncommon. it is advised to stay as far away from one as you can, as their sly nature combined with their venom make them easily one of the most dangerous tribes.

windwings. light, agile dragons, with wings even larger than a skywing's. they never tire in the air. they have long, narrow jaws and tails, with needle-sharp horns branching from their heads. their forearms are directly connected to their wings, and when on land, windwings can use them to easily perch and run with. webbing runs from their back talons to the base of their tail, which at the tip, has a long, sharp cluster of spikes. they have long, narrow crests running out from their foreheads, and is brightly-colored, much like a swiftwing or venomwing's. they live in the mountains, where they make their homes from the caves in the cliffs, and often can be seen challenging each other in races and games in the sky. a windwing without the sky is like a seawing without water. their colors range from pale grey to dark grey, with green, blue, or gold markings.

leafwings. massive dragons as large as fangwings. these sauropod-like dragons sport very long necks, which allow them to reach high places in trees. thick jaws and teeth give them the ability to easily rip off various tough plants and fruit. long horns branch from their relatively large heads. massive wings spread out from their back, with powerful flying muscles to hold their weight in the air, but they prefer to stay on the ground. though they look like they're not the brightest, leafwings are very intelligent. their colors range from greys, to black, and browns, with patches of brighter colors on their bodies.

currentwings. these long, elasmosaurus-ike dragons are the deadliest predator in the sea. living in the bay, currentwings sport long necks, narrow jaws filled with serrated teeth, flippers, and a long, finned tail. a tall fin runs from the end of their snout to the base of their neck. they have gills, much like seawings, but are much faster in the water. they have large wings which help in the ocean, but rarely use them to fly. they have no natural weapons besides their fangs. sharp, silent, and mysterious, this tribe rarely communicates with the others. currentwings prey on large fish and, occasionally, dragon, like the fangwings. their colors range from deep midnight blue to sky blue.

metalwings. named so for their steel-like armor. these anklosaur-like dragons are stocky, and their thickset bodies are covered in sharp, hard plates and spikes of bone. forward-facing horns, each on the lower jaw, provide a good weapon for charging. at the end of their tails, they have a massive club of bone, perfect for breaking legs of attacking predators. not that they have many, besides some fangwings willing to get a few bones broken. metalwings have very powerful wings to allow flight with their large weight. their colors range from black to dark grey, with bright blue or green around the face and neck.

    name: peregrine
    age: seven years
    gender: male
    species: skywing
    rank: shipwrecked dragonet
powers: can breathe fire; enormous wings
appearance: peregrine is a pale orange, with darker overscales. his underbelly is a pale yellow. his eyes are a bright amber, and the ridges above them are an odd dusty blue, along with the line of scales just above his underbelly. peregrine's talons and horns are all dark grey. his wing membranes are the same pale blue as his underbelly, and fade to dusty blue at the tips.
personality: peregrine has a pretty "whatever" personality. he's fierce and determined, relying on his brawn to get him out of a tough spot. he often takes charge if no-one else will, and tries to prove himself as a good leader. peregrine is fiercely protective of his friends, making sure they're always safe and keeping any danger away.

powers: can breathe fire; retractable back talon
appearance: falcon is thin and agile, yet very strong. a normal swiftwing with a slightly taller crest, and her coloring resembles a falcon's, as her name implies. she has two blue jay feathers tied by string to her left horn.
personality: falcon is quiet around her pack, and tends to stick to the background. since she's a subordinate, she doesn't gain much respect, but doesn't seem to care. when in the presence of friends, falcon is audacious, forthright, and sassy. she seems to always have a snarky remark up her sleeve, and doesn't have much respect herself for her packmates.

    name: abyss

    powers: average currentwing abilities
appearance: abyss is a midnight blue, with a lighter shade around his underbelly. narrow jaws with needle-sharp teeth, a long neck, gills, and flippers. around his eyes, abyss has markings in a sky blue that resemble the seawing markings on the face. he has bright blue eyes.
personality: abyss is quiet and mysterious, like the rest of his tribe. a very intelligent currentwing, he'd rather do a job immediately instead of procrastinate. he isn't one to trust someone at first, and earning it from him isn't easy unless he knows you're not a threat. abyss isn't afraid to get his claws - or in this case, flippers - dirty, and he's extremely fierce in a tight situation. he doesn't really 'give a damn' about anything, being rather straightforward with his opinions and actions. at times abyss can be blunt and violent, with a short temper that's easily set off if continually provoked.

personality: sai is pretty quiet, and avoids most of her tribe if she can. she can be pretty sullen, and usually is snappy and defensive around strangers. due to instinct, sai is fierce and a skilled fighter. she has good photographic memory, and has memorized a good chunk of the island from exploring.
