Tumblefinch was still violently trembling, soaked with water and whimpering, but at least he was safe and in the cave with the rest of the group. At this point, though, he was shivering more with cold than with fear, despite his long fur.

Quailsnarl watched as Stonegull, her mousebrained brother, went on and on about how they were going to have to leave the forest and that it would be flooded forever. "Stonegull!" she snarled. "You're brain has to be full of thistle-down to believe that!" Her brother, wide-eyed and clearly afraid, looked over at her. "You're the one who's brain's full of thistles!" he hissed back. "This storm was sent by StarClan to punish us for letting a kittypet and two loners into our Clan!" She unsheathed her claws, looking like she was about to tackle the tom.
