Ice continued to try. Why wasn't mommy doing the thing? What did she do to offend her? She stopped nursing at sat down, starting to wail in hopes that she would give her food now.

Sparrow nodded and padded across the border to her den. Her stomach rumbled again, but this time, she ignored it.

Patchpaw snickered. "I find the weather today to be most acceptable," he said in a deeper voice. He was intentionally doing a very bad impression of an older cat.

Stella looked from Ice to Babble then to Echo. " Why is she suckling you? You aren't her mom Goose is!" Stella prodded Ice. Gesturing her towards Goose instead. Picking up a scrape of moss and pretending to eat it before pointing at Goose again. Trying to indicate where the food was instead.

Honeydream rolled her eyes. " Here at least take the mouse." She tossed the half finished mouse carcass at the mute she-cat. " It'll be crow food if not."
