Raggedspirit looked around a bit as he waited, but kept Pantherpaw in the corner of his eye. Someone clearl taught this apprentice well or the young tom just picked it up by himself. Maybe it this was going to be easily as he thought originally, but it was more about weighing the skills than winning. He nodded back to him then got up once he was gone. Time to get down to business he thought heading straight, but a little opposite of the direction Pantherpaw had gone. He sniffed at the air to try and find a scent to follow knowing that be his best bet. The problem was who knew what the size of that prey would be on the other end of the trail.

"I wouldn't mind a little swim," Silvercloud answered, the slightest hint of eagerness in her mews. "If you do go dipping, Northwind and I will join you, so that your big and fluffy pelt won't get wet on its own, to say the least." She giggled again, recalling Kestrelstrike's earlier rant about his coat, in an almost teasing manner.

Aspenfang smiled and nodded, "That's good to hear. I'm doing quite nice myself." Aspenfang replied in a calm tone. "Stormstar sent out a hunting patrol earlier this morning. Seems he wants to make sure every cat can get seconds, eh?" Aspenfang added with a light laugh.

Pantherpaw continued down the trail, trying not to make too much noise. When the sound got louder, Pantherpaw dropped into a hunting crouch, trying to critique himself so he was positioned properly. He staked forward and when he saw his prey, it was a decent sized Starling. He lunged at the bird and unsheathed his claws into the bird's sides. He sank his fangs into the bird to kill it swiftly, but he wasn't completely pleased with its size. Pantherpaw quickly put some dirt over it to compare sizes later, and listened around him once more. This time, there wasn't much sound, so he had to wait a little longer. Once he caught the scent of an unidentifiable piece of prey, he started to stalk after it. Even if Antnose only wanted one piece of prey, Pantherpaw wanted to prove to Raggedspirit that he could bring back the winning size of prey, and more.

kestrelstrike huffed in fake anger, "no respect." he shook his head with a smile on his face. "well lets just hope it doesn't come to jumping into the river." he laughed and sat up, tail flicking next to his side, "it does feel like the wind is picking up a little at least."

finchpaw smiled when she saw all the grouchiness fade from her mentor's face. this was how she liked him best. she nodded hesitantly, not liking to talk bad about her clanmates, "he does seem kind of..." she paused looking at her paws for a moment, "tense." at his question of training she stayed silent for a minute thinking. she was not that bad at hunting but she was pretty horrid at fighting.. she looked up antnose and said with a face that looked torn between the options given, "battling i guess.."

Raggedspirit's ear flicked once he hear something before he had managed to get it's scent. He smiled then went in the direction of the sound. He watched his steps as he did not to step on any twigs because that be the end of it. He finally spot a pretty good size squirrel, but not huge by any means. He dashed forward trying to pounce on it. He misjudged the distance, but manage to caught it tail with one of his paws. After that, it was a quick bite to the back of it's neck to end it's life. Now that he got his one prey limit the tom was going to check on how Pantherpaw was going. He buried the squirrel in case he would be caught spying on because of it scent. He quickly head the direction the apprentice headed and stop every now and then to check for his scent.

Pantherpaw continued to the prey scent, and once he neared it, he sighed when he realized it was a small vole. Pantherpaw left it, and stuck to his one piece of prey. The apprentice back tracked, and picked up his prey that he left. Making his way to the small clearing, his mouth watered as the scent of the starling filled his scent glands. Once back at the clearing they started at, he sat down and placed the prey in front of him. Pantherpaw was still proud of himself, this was the first time he'd ever caught prey completely alone.

Raggedspirit looked up at the sky then lightly hissed rushing back to where he buried his prey. He stuffed the squirrel into his mouth then raced back to the spot. He took the fastest way possible that he didn't really care if he was making much noise. He used his tail like a cheetah to turn a bit quickly, but hissed as he slipped and landed up his side a thud. He quickly got up and continued on back with half his fur messed up with a few twigs in it. He slid to a stop when he reached the clearing then calmly walked which was hard with her nerves already shocked from messing up the turn. He have to practice that a bit more so that wouldn't happen next time. He nodded to the apprentice then sized up the piece of prey that he had caught.

Pantherpaw watched as Raggedspirit came into the clearing and Pantherpaw trotted over to him. He examined the prey and compared the size. "Well, there's not much of a difference is there?" Pantherpaw commented, not really expecting an answer. He then looked up at Raggedsirit and looked at his pelt, "What happened to you?" Pantherpaw asked, obviously talking about his pelt.

Raggedspirit placed the squirrel down then looked from the squirrel to the bird that Pantherpaw caught nodding to his comment about the size. He turned to look what he meant with pelt then thought for a second. He would normally say no of your business and blow the cat off. He thought about how to word without ruining his status as a warrior. "Things didn't work to plan on a skill I been working on," he commented not really wanting to go into much detail about it. At least he didn't get injured to his knowledge that would be fun to explain. If he did get hurt he wouldn't get help and pretty much would have to be dragged to the medicine cat den.

Pantherpaw chuckled and turned to face Raggedspirit, "Well, if you would have messed up anymore, then you would have really gotten hurt." Pantherpaw replied and picked up his piece of prey, "So, do we go back to camp now?" He asked, knowing that he was not the one in charge.
