Hattie/27 moons/She-cat/Mate: Smudge/Tags: Smudge
Hattie awoke at dawn. She sighed with happiness as she watched her mate and kits sleep. They'll be hungry when they wake... She thought to herself. She got up, being careful not to awaken Smudge. She quietly padded out of the den before going down to the river to fish. She spotted a small fish and swiped at it with a paw, she missed. She saw a larger, slower fish moving towards her further upstream. She waited patiently until it came by and she jumped into the water, clawing at it madly, biting its fins so it wouldn't swim away. With one swift scratch at its belly, she managed to kill the fish. She dragged it out of the water and decided to make it more appealing as her kits didn't like seeing blood. She started to wash it by flicking water onto it with her paw. She heard a squirrel dart past behind her and she twisted her head around before chasing after it. She chased it for a short while and then gave up once it finally had the sense to scramble up a tree. She went back to her fish and then decided to take a little while to acknowledge the gorgeous day. She went back home with her fish once it was nearly sunhigh. She heard Smudge calling for her.

Smudge's ears twitched. Her opened his eyes. It was sunhigh. He had slept in. He looked around the rest of the tree hollow, his three- no, two, kits were sleeping curled around each other. He looked beside him at his mate, Hattie. At least he thought he did. He blinked. She wasn't there. He jumped up and stared wildly around the den. She was gone. He rushed out the entrance. "Hattie! Hattie where are you?!" He called. "I'm here." Said an amused voice behind him. "Hattie! Oh thank goodness!" He said, relaxing. "No need to get so worked up my dear." She replied, coming over and licking him on the nose. "I caught prey." She said, going back and picking up a large fish. "Our daughter is just as good at swimming as you..." He said, mourning over his lost kit. "Yes... But of course, no kitten can swim their way out of a flood..." She replied.

Leaf was woken up by her parents. Her mother had caught prey. She gave her brother a nudge to wake him. She then went over and started to eat. She appreciated her mother taking the time to clean it. She hated the sight of blood. "Thanks Mama." She said in between bites.

Thistle awoke to his sister nudging him. He yawned and stretched, getting up to eat. He stopped all of a sudden. Something was wrong. He felt fear and the need to tell the truth. Except he couldn't. Why? He had no secrets. What was going on? He gulped. When he was growing up with Bounce they would sometimes feel each others feelings, even if they had nothing to do with it. Was this a sign his sister was alive? He sighed. He shouldn't get his hopes up.

"I saw nothing!" She tried to lie again. It wasn't working. She shuffled further towards the river. Would she confess? She didn't know herself. She kept shuffling until she felt the back of her paws just by the edge.
(PHEW! That was a lot to get through.)
