Cherrypaw
Cherrypaw scented the air. She could smell the rabbit, fresh dew, and the faint smell of a field mouse.
Daisystar must be talking about the rabbit. she decided, and nodded to her mentor.
Cherrypaw padded to where the scent of rabbit was strongest.
There, behind a clump of gorse, was a plump rabbit nibbling at a plantain stem.
Cherrypaw started stalking up to it, using the gorse bush as a hiding place, until the rabbit looked up at her.
She froze momentarily, as if she had been caught doing somthing she wasn't supposed to do until the rabbit bounded away.
Cherrypaw raced after it, tearing off pieces of fluffy fur on the prickly gorse.
She caught up to it and pounced, but the furry creature dodged and leaped into a burrow.
Cherrypaw looked around for any escape routes the rabbit might have before leaping in herself.
Being just a little bigger than the plump rabbit, she fit.
The rabbits burrow was extremely dark and musty but Cherrypaw was very content to get that rabbit.
Rabbit scent was very strong here, and only getting stronger.
The tunnel was also increasing in size as she got deeper.
Finally she came to a large-as large as rabbit burrows get-den at the end of the tunnel.
Cherrypaw lunged into the burrow-room with her claws unsheathed, and hit fur.
The rabbit squealed and tried to get out of Cherrypaw's grip, but only succeded to scrap her against a sharp stone on the burrows wall.
Cherrypaw let out a wail of pain but did not let go of the rabbit.
When she reached its neck, she bit down as hard as she could until it stopped thrashing and laid limp on the floor.
Silently Cherrypaw thanked Starclan for the prey and dragged the rabbit out of the tunnel tail-first.
Once outside she layed down the prey and began lapping the at the blood knotted in her pelt.
that was a determined rabbit! I'm lucky to have gotton out of there without more serious wounds!
