Today was the day she would begin anew; everything before this day would be forgotten and she could start again, this time with a horse at her side and no one stopping her. She finished putting her clothes in the closet after unpacking and storing everything away since the morning. She had arrived late last night and only had enough energy to crawl into bed and sleep. Part of her felt guilty for having Song shipped but the other part was relieved that she didn't have to worry about something going wrong and it actually being her fault. Though now that she thought of it, it would be her fault because she had decided to ship him. Sudden fear ran through her as all the thoughts of what could go wrong seized her. She took a deep breath and sighed; he was fine. If anything, it was the shippers she needed to worry about. Melissa deathly wanted him to arrive, but work had to be taken care of first, then she might be able to take care of him. Until then, she had stalls to clean, horses to groom, and, quite possibly, some new beginners to teach.
Melissa looked over her room again, making sure that her clothes had been put away. Sure, she had some decorating to do but that could wait. Putting clothes away first was more important than decorating. It would be embarrassing to have someone at the door while she was in her pajamas and not be able to find clothes right away. She walked towards the door and grabbed her denim jacket as she left. As she closed the door behind her, she put it on and locked the door. It was such a beautiful day out today! She desperately wanted to go for a ride on Song, perhaps this evening if he arrived this afternoon. Melissa walked to the stables, seeing boarders and staff alike walking in, out, and all about. She didn't mind the staff, she just didn't like the few that expected to have their horses taken care of for them. Why have a horse if you want nothing to do with taking care of it? It was a different story if you didn't have enough land to keep it on or weren't sure how to keep a horse at home, but at least learn how to while you're boarding it, just in case something were to happen! How anyone could dislike taking care of a horse was a mystery to her. As she walked into the stable, she took in the smell and sound of horses; the joyous whinnies, the smell of hay and hide. Melissa smiled to herself and walked towards the storage area to get a pitch fork and set to work...
