Venus sighed lightly. "I care because I won't just believe that you'll always be an untrustworthy killer like everyone else thinks. You may think you're like that, and you may think you'll always be, but I don't." she said softly. She took a small step forward, so she cleared the space between them.

"You're just so used to no one caring that you've lost yourself." Venus now whispered. "No one has ever truly, truly cared for you. Stop me if I'm wrong, but you've just completely cut yourself off from the world so now no one finds any reason to trust you, any reason to care whether you're dead or alive." she said, raising her voice.

"I'm usually not one to trust easy, and I know I've told you that, but isn't it obvious that I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about you? They're just not sure what kind've a lion you really are, because you've never shown it; No one cared about you, so you figured, why make an effort? Well, no matter how short of a time I've known you, I know that you aren't what you seem." she said, sighing again. "And don't try and convince me that you're completely rock-hard and you don't have any type of soft spot." Venus added. A small, warming smile appeared on her face.
"If everyone else could see you through my eyes, they'd feel the way I do..." she murmured softly.

Jace kept a straight face most of the time- and he was sued to doing that anyway. As he looked at Venus, he could've sworn she looked like she was going to tackle him, yet at the same time her eyes looked so much clearer, so much better, she herself looked like someone anyone would love to be friends with. "Yeah. Your right. I have." Jace finally said.

"Then Why are you trusting me Venus? I just don't want to let you down..." Jace said his voice raised just a bit. But he was curious- he wanted to know why and why not. His voice trailed off as his tail flicked and Venus murmured,'If everyone else could see you through my eyes, they'd feel the way I do...', and suddenly, Jace just looked into her eyes again. He looked at the beautiful image in front of him, and her soulful eyes. He didn't really want to look away. He just watched her, like he was looking for a soul. He just looked at her like he wanted to know the truth- and most could tell just by looking into his own eyes.

Raising his head slightly, he wondered what she'd meant by what she'd said- the last thing she'd said. His ears flickered as he listened to her soothing voice. How did she feel? That's all he wanted to know right now. He wanted to know what was up.

Venus immediately laughed at the look on his face, the look that said he hadn't a clue what was going on. "You seriously don't get it, do you?" she said, now frowning. She sighed, making tsk tsk noises. "Jace, Jace, Jace. If you would just take a moment to think about it, really think about everything I've said and done, you'd get it." she said, stepping back away from him and turning to walk away. She looked over her shoulder and flashed him a sly smile. "Come find me when you've figured it all out." she said, then began bounding off, gathering speed as she ran. Soon enough, she'd disappeared into the savannah trees and towering grass.

Shaking his head slightly, Jace glanced down at the ground and then looked up again. She was running off already and he had just screwed up. Why had he told her about how his life sucked? Why? The only question going through his mind was Why? He got most of it- but he just didn't get waht she meant at the last sentence she spoke.

Shaking out his fur he leaned against the tree to look up at the sky, before turning and heading towards a nearby watering hole he'd seen. He needed a drink, and some calming down.

He didn't know how long he'd been there, but Jace had been sitting by the water thinking. It could've been an hour or so, maybe less, he didn't know- nor did he care. Sighing deeply, he glanced up at the sky, which now seemed to be changing colors. The day would soon show itself. Getting up, Jace finally decided to get back after a bit. Turning he broke into a light quick run towards the pride lands. He'd probably run into Venus sooner or later.

Venus wandered about for quite a while, wearing a light smirk. "He still hasn't figured it out? Tsk tsk." she murmured to herself. That was when everything she was thinking completely melted away; Darkness loomed around her, and she was falling deeper into unconciousness. Something had whacked her very hard and harshly on the back of the head. Not that she knew it, but blood was flowing smoothly from three huge gashes streaked all down the back of her head in three slanted vertical slashes.

Bael sighed, looming over Venus. "Quite a shame you had to do that, Streek." he said, looking over to one of his large male followers. The lion nodded grimly. "She refused to cooporate, remember sir?" To this, Bael nodded. "Yes. But it such ruins her beauty, her gentle nature...." he said, his thoughts trailing away. He ducked down, sliding under Venus' stomach, so that when he stood up straight, she was lying sideways on his back, blood dripping onto the ground. "Come, we must get her to the healer."

Jax's ears flickered as voices lured him from the comforting darkness of sleep. Suddenly aware, his eyes remained closed and his head stayed perfectly still between his paws, but he listened to the exchange between Jace and Venus. He wasn't quite sure what to make of it, and the remnants of sleep overtook him again as he heard Venus part ways with the dark lion. Slowly, he slipped back out of consciousness.

Ten minutes later, though, the first birds began singing, and he reluctantly left his sweet dreams about the lovely lioness he had met. Grumbling a bit, he sat up onto his haunches and shook his mighty head, his thick blonde and black mane falling back into place alongside his eyes. He squeezed his eyes shut as a powerful yawn overtook him, ending it with a soft roaring noise.

Standing, he stretched out his limbs and pranced happily over to the watering hole where Jace had recently left. He was in good spirits, blissfully remembering the events of the previous day, and completely unaware of the trouble Venus was in. After taking a short drink, he stood facing the dens of his new pride. Strange... both Venus and the dark-furred lion were gone now. He vaguely remembered Venus leaving, and somehow their absence gave him an uneasy feeling.

On the other hand, he knew that they could have returned while he was asleep and could be together in her den. Not wanting to intrude, he stretched out on a large rock overhanging the water hole and lounged comfortably, half content in relaxing alone, but half hoping that someone would wake up and help him shake the nervous feeling he had.

Venus awoke with an extreme headache quite a while later. She was laying inside an unfamiliar-smelling den. When she got up and walked outside, trying to go farther, something pull her back. She looked at her left hind paw, and found it shackled. She was... Chained to the den? Starting to panic, Venus whimpered. She spotted Bael in the distance, and knew it meant trouble. He was coming towards her with a charming smile, coming closer... closer... closer... Soon Venus' loud, musical roar was ringing throughout the lands. She wasn't too far from HR territory, hopefully someone would hear her. She heard her voice bounce back and knew that it had hit the one stone crevice only a yard away from camp, in her territory. She smiled grimly. Someone would soon come to her call of distress. But, in a second's time, she was pinned down, a large paw over her mouth. Bael grinned evilly.
"Shh, shh, my dear."

{oooh! Drama! Now I have to figure out how Jace is gonna get to her...
