"How dare you!" Willowleaf hissed at Sunpelt, emerging from the dark den and into the beautiful daylight. "You should be honored that you have the chance of protecting your clan from harm. At least the apprentices enjoy it!" She stalked away towards the fresh kill pile. Her day was off to a bad start, perhaps it would lighten up just as the rising sun did.

Sunpelt winced, flattening his ears. It was like the deputy coukd read his mind. He hadn't said anything out loud, but she had been quick to chastise him. Was he that obviously uncomfortable?

Amberpaw looked up to see the elder she-cat's eyes. "Greetings, Windfur,"she greeted the other she-cat politely. "How are you?" the ginger tabby asked, and curled her soft tail around her paws.

Cleusfoot put his paw on top of the kits head for a moment. "You'll only be useless if you believe it." he didn't want to sound cliché but that was all he could think to say. "Try again." He added putting his paw back down. "Recognize what you are looking for." He turned his head to see Willowleaf coming by in an angry huff and raised his brow. "Willowleaf, let him be, don't be so immature. He isn't not going. Give him a break." He flicked his tail to the side. "You're the deputy, so don't act like a kit." He added tartly under his breath.

"Yah, sorry." She said with a light laugh, "Especially right after you hunted I guess its tiring."She turned to the apprentices, "Interested in border patrol with Sunpelt, Blossompaw, and me?" She asked arrowpaw, "We're going to the south border. Loners come there a lot." She looked on uncomfortably as Willowleaf came by to reprimand Sunpelt. She wasn't sure what to say in defense of him as he clearly had done nothing wrong but she wasn't sure she should say anything.

Windfur

"I'm well, Amberpaw. How are you this fine morning? Are you going out to collect herbs later? I would think this would be a good time, with such fine weather." Windfur smiled, eating her meal elegantly.

Arrowpaw

The young tom nodded eagerly. "Will we get to fighg some loners?!" He asked, puffing up his chest to make himself look bigger. "I want to shred their trespassing fur!"

Blossompaw

The small she-cat pressed her side up against Sunpelt's side gently. "She's just in a bad mood. Don't be upset." She whispered.

Sunpelt

Sunpelt nodded at Blossompaw's words, but was still tense and glancing nervously at Willowleaf.

"alright..." she meowed. she stared at a mouse in the prey pile. she jumped and tried to grab it but instead knocked it down making it land on her. She then got up and stared at it and meowed in excitement, "I DID IT! I DID IT!" she seemed pretty exited.

"I'm good,"she replied. Amberpaw sat up straight. "I agree. Want to come with me?" She asked casually. "I know a good place to start,"the ginger tabby she-cat added.

Willowleaf sighed. "I'm very sorry. I took it the wrong way." She dipped her head then picked a scrawny mouse out of the pile, eating it fairly fast. She observed her surroundings, making sure everything was safe.

The tabby she-cat nodded, finishing her meal and stretching. "I don't think I'll be needed for a little while. Lead the way." Her tail swished as she walked after Amberpaw.
