Berryleaf could not believe what he just heard. The two, 10-moon-old, warriors who had only been raised from their apprentice status a few heartbeats ago were to be in charge of the camp. This made no sense whatsoever to the medicine cat. He rose to his paws and turned around padding into his den without waiting for Pinestar to actually call an end to the meeting.

Snowfang opened his mouth as if he was going to say something but he just couldn't seem to find the words. Why were they chosen to be temporarily in charge and not, say, Wintersong? Eventually he came to terms with the decision and gave a single nod.

In charge? He would be in charge? Although he was a bit surprised, Icefrost could hardly contain his excitement at the prospect.

He watched as the she-cat left the cat before he went in. He padded in and padded to Berryleaf, asking, "What happened? I left for prey and came back to see Pinestar leaving."

"A meeting was held." Berryleaf answered in a simple fashion, his back turned to the warrior as he spoke. The Siamese tom was trying to put his thoughts at ease by organizing, and then re-organizing his herbs. "Warriors were made and Pinestar is going to the Moonstone." He gave a bit more clarification as he continued to work.

"Okay then." The tom turned and padded off, questioning his leader. But he kept quiet.


"Still can't believe it."

With a soft sigh, Berryleaf stopped his needless fussing over the herb stock and turned to pad to the entrance of the den. He knew that him over thinking things would help no one and that Pinestar must have a reason for her decisions. He sat down, peering out from the den at his clanmates.

Lilypaw turned quickly from the ceremony, trying to avoid her raging sister who's anger rolled off in waves "Berryleaf" she called quietly "Do you agree with Pinestar?" she asked almost regretfully "About making those two warriors and..." she paused "Leaving them in charge" she sent a glance Wintersong's way.

Berryleaf did not answer his apprentice right away. He was not sure how truthful he should be with his answer since he did not want to instill distrust in the she-cat, especially not of their leader. "I believe she must have her reasons for doing what she did." The medicine cat responded, choosing his words carefully, "But no, I do not fully agree with her decisions. The warriors seem too young to have been made warriors, and then to leave them in charge seems very strange. Of course those are only my opinions."

Snowfang figured that being left in charge didn't really mean much in the long run so he trotted off to relax in a sunny section of the camp, mostly just waiting for this whole situation to blow over.

Icefrost scanned the camp curiously, noticing his clan mate's reactions about Pinestar leaving them in charge. Most notably he saw how angry Wintersong seemed. With an irritated flick of his tail, he came to the conclusion that his newfound authority would likely not be respected. As much as Icefrost did not like being undermined even he knew that, in reality, Pinestar probably should not have left him and Snowfang in charge in the first place.
