Silentstep
No sooner did they return to camp did Silentstep turn in, padding briskly to the warrior's den and promptly collapsing into a tired heap. Why did her bones ache? Why was she so tired? She didn't know the answer, and didn't dare question aloud. Fatigued, her eyes closed and she prepared to fall asleep, but found her mind wide awake. She opted instead to simply rest, leaving her thoughts to wander. Eventually she would have to tell somebody, she knew that. One day she will collapse or simply not get up in the morning, and her mysterious ailment would be all too obvious. Sooner or later, she would have to drag herself to the medicine den and pray to Starclan there was something there for her. But she was a prideful cat, and in her mind to show weakness was to admit to all of Ferretclan that she was not fit to be deputy, a prospect that terrified her. From the moment she was named deputy, she dreamed of holding on until she could take the place as leader, the name Silentstar sounding as strong and as powerful as she could hope to be. Despite wanting to hide all of this, she longed for someone, anyone she could trust to hold her secret. Did such a cat exist?
She did not know.
