Sai lowered her head, a million questions surging through her head, but not saying anything. She flicked her ear to a stick snapping behind her, she sniffed, and could tell it was a mouse. She turned her head, to once again, seeing nothing. She turned back and stared blankly at nothing.

Darkpaw just couldn't stop talking now he'd started. "I don't know why I don't, maybe it's because I would miss the Clan and StarClan knows what would happen to me if I decided to return. That's why I just come here everyday, it's the closest thing I have to a secret escape." A tear fell from the tom's eye but he wiped it away. He was sorta glad that she wouldn't be able to see the large apprentice crying, but fortunately it was just that one tear.

Sai listened to him speak, and heard the mouse scampering away. She heard a drop on the earth, then fitting together so and so, she figured out he was crying. "I'm sorry." she said softly and warmly.

Darkpaw shook his head. "Don't worry, i like spending time with you." He shuffled closer to her.

Sai sighed deeply, feeling warmth radiating off Darkpaw. She closed her eyes to see nothing, and relaxed.

The she-cat giggled softly and nuzzled Branchfur's cheek affectionately. "Can.. can I tell you something..?", she said, looking into his eyes bashfully.

Darkpaw relaxed his tensed muscles. The apprentice had been so tense. He looked down at the blind loner and whispered. "Sorry I was so mean to you earlier." The smokey tabby sighed and, although he was much larger than Sai and most other cats his age, he felt as small as a mouse.
