Ravenflare blinked and stretched as leaf-bare sunlight trickled through tiny cracks
in the ceiling of the den. Yawning, she rolled out of her nest and padded outside,
fluffing up her fur against the cold, windy air. It was only dawn, and the air hadn't
warmed up at all from the bit of sunlight the rising sun cast on the camp. Sitting down,
she looked around for her apprentice, shaking her head when she realized Whisperpaw
hadn't woken up yet. Oh, well. She'd eat while she was waiting, and if the apprentice
wasn't up by the time she was done, she'd go in and wake her herself.

Tigerleap stumbled out of his nest and into the sunlight. Stopping outside the den,
he arched his back in a long stretch, making his back legs quiver. The cold penetrated
his thin coat and he shivered, fluffing his fur and trotting over to Ravenflare.
"Morning," he greeted sleepily, hooking a mouse with his claw and settling down next
to his sister, who was eating a small shrew. She just nodded in response, obviously just
having woken up as well.

Oakpaw looked down sheepishly, having forgotten that rule. "Sorry
Coldstones, I don't know why I forgot that," he mewed, his ears hot in
embarrassment. He glanced over at the nursery, peering through the entrance at
the queen inside. "Shall I take Silvershadow a vole or a wren or something?"
he offered, looking back over at his mentor.

Autumnpaw thought for a moment before shaking her head. "No, I think all we needed was feverfew and maybe parsley," she mewed, looking around for the
other herb. She couldn't see anything at first, but then a bit of green caught her
eye and she bounded over to it, digging up more feverfew.

As the sun cracked through the walls of the apprentices den, her eyes flickered open slowly. She glanced around, looking for her sister, but sadly she wasn't awake. Shaking the last of the sleep from her eyes, she stood up wearily. Seeing the dark shape of her mentor Ravenflare, she padded out quietly, barely making a whisper of noise. "Mor- YAWN!-ning Ravenflare..." she yawned.

Featherstar trudged through the snow, lifting her paws high over to the freshkill pile. Taking a skinny vole, she sat on the highledge and took petite bites from the thin creature before her, thanking StarClan for its life.

Whisperpool nodded agreement and began to follow the cats. Her senses alert for dangers and threats.

Raincloud glanced across the clearing. Nothing good was going to be done here. Spotting Tigerleap, the tom trotted over. "Hi Tigerleap. Want to hunt with me?" He asked the other warrior.

Otterpaw looked up at his mentor as he trotted along beside her. "Can I place some scent marks this time?" The apprentice asked.

Mapleleaf turned back as the apprentice's harvested some feverfew. "Thank you." The medicine cat nodded her thanks, picking up the parsley and setting off at a slow walk.

Ravenflare hadn't even hooked a mouse off the pile before Whisperpaw
padded out. She settled back on her haunches, leaving the prey on the pile,
and smiled at her apprentice. "Good morning, sleepyhead," she greeted, a mrow of laughter e
vident in her voice. "Are you ready for training, or do you need to wake up a bit first?" she asked
the young she-cat, suspecting her answer would be the latter. That was alright with the warrior;
in the meantime she would just poke her nose into the elders den for a bit to deliver some fresh-kill.
Perhaps Tigerleap would wake up enough to join them on a patrol too.

Tigerleap regarded the mouse for a few heart-beats before pushing it back into the pile,
still too sleep-ridden to eat. Instead, he stood and stretched again before heading toward
the barrier, intending to run a few laps around camp to wake himself up. Usually he
achieved this by going on the dawn patrol, but since there hadn't been one, running laps
would have to do.

"Heh, I guess I'll wake up a little bit-" she chuckled, stifling a yawn and stretching her silver back. She padded closer to the pile and hooked a chaffinch in her paw, before taking a bite. She spat out a feather and laughed. "PFFFT- Feathers!"

Raincloud hissed as he felt a kick in his stomach but turned to see no cat in the nest beside him. His sister was already awake. Stumbling out of the nest, he padded out after her but slipped on a frozen puddle. "Ouch." He grumbled as he climbed to his paws and shook his fur before sitting down and grooming it.

Otterpaw looked at his mentor. "Can you place the first one? I'm a bit unsure." The apprentice meowed.

Mapleleaf nodded. "Let's head back then." She meowed as she began to trudge through the snow.
