She broke into a smile, trotting over to her mentor. "What are we going to learn today?" she asked. She was so excited, that she was practically jumping up and down. Training was Gannetpaw's life. She had to become better than all of the other Apprentices, so that she could be made Leader first. Then they would recognize her for who she was.

He frowned. "Let's head back then, come on." he said, and started trotting back to camp. They weren't too far away, and arrived back there after a few minutes. Bristlefur entered the camp, and saw a large gathering of cats. Leading Jayshadow over to group, he was horrified to see Rosestar, motionless on the floor. "...W-What happened?!"

Russetpelt shrugged, pain shooting through her shoulder again and even worse now with the icy frost of the morning. "I figured we should try some hunting. The fresh-kill heap isn't very full due to the snow and I want to test you on leaf-bare hunting" She herself scented the air, smelling a bit of crow-food from Darkclan territory.

Mistypine bowed her head, her expression motionless. "I was hunting, and... I saw her body in a pit near the unstable badger den. She must have been checking for food because this leaf-bare prey is scarce, and it... Must have fallen" She finished, voice clouded with grief. She raised her head. "Rosestar hadn't chosen a deputy after... Snowlight died" She flicked her tail, it landing on a pile of dirt on the High Rock. "We need a new leader and we can't choose slowly. I only wish we could mourn her first but we need a cat to guide us" She heard a wail from the crowd of cats, the voice of a queen who was trying to hide Rosestar's body from the eyes of kits.
