Cherryblossom scented the air. "We're not far from the border; can you smell Hollyclan scent, all built up? That's the scent markers."

"Yeah. I know how to use cobwebs, poppy seeds, and marigold, but that's only because I spent so much time in the medicine den when I was younger. We probably should go back now." Cream agreed.

[my sweet piano]

"Yeah, I can!" Whisperpaw exclaimed, even more excited by this fact.

Cherryblossom twitched her whiskers in amusement. "We're going to see if we can scent any scent of intruders now, before we refresh the scent markers. If it's a day or so old, our scent will drown it out and we won't know there's an intruder."

[my sweet piano]

"What if there's an intruder still there?" Whisperpaw thought out loud. "What would we do then?"

[debris]

"We'd scare it away. Kittypets think we eat bones, and if we say we do, they'll leave. Generally rogues want a fight, so we give it to them. Mostly loners keep to themselves, so if we let them know they're on our territory they'll leave." Cherryblossom replied.

[my sweet piano]

"Oh, okay!" Whisperpaw said, bouncing ahead eagerly. "Why do kittypets think we eat bones?"

[debris]

"It's probably something our ancestors told them to scare them away, and they've remembered and warned their kits, and then when their kits grow up they warn their kits, and so on. Just like we pass down the warrior code, they pass down that silly superstition." Cherryblossom explained.

[my sweet piano]

"I bet bones taste gross." Whisperpaw thought, sticking her tounge out. "They're dry and hard."

"Yeah, but at least that old superstition keeps the kittypets away," Cherryblossom mewed.
