When Cloudpatch walked over to his apprentice, Pebblefang stepped away. She did not want to get involved. She winced as she heard Cloudpatch's temper being released. Even so, once Pebblefang heard the reason, she agreed entirely with the tom: if an apprentice didn't listen to their mentor...there really wasn't anything in the Code covering apprentice punishments and treatments. Besides, Fogpaw should know the risks of stepping over the border.

"I'm glad to know I'm not a total fool," muttered Tipwhisker. He turned his head towards the commotion, and watched with intrest the fight between mentor and apprentice. Fogpaw would certainly get chewed out for this!

"So you're saying that I should be selfish!?" he hissed, turning back to face Cloudpatch. "I thought you were a warrior! I'm not ruthless, I do what I can for my clan." he growled, his tail flicking in annoyance.

"No, I'm saying you shouldn't risk your life for prey that was their's to begin with." Cloudpatch told him. "You're not the first apprentice to break the warrior code by crossing the border and you're not going to be the last. But I'm hoping to not see anymore apprentices die because they crossed the border." The tom stared at the apprentice. "I may not be much older than you, but I assure you that I've seen a lot more than you ever will if our clan rivalries stay this way forever. We used to live in peace. But we don't anymore because an apprentice crossed the border."
