The forest beyond serves as their territory, their home, providing them with everything they need. Although this lifestlye comes with it's perks, living as a cave-dweller is not for the faint of heart.

» Territory «

Beach
CavernClan's home is on the beach. It's littered with rocks, and even larger ones jut out of the water near the shore. The beach itself is mostly sand, turning to pebbles as you get closer to the water. After several hundred feet, the ground suddenly slopes upward, turning into broad, wide-sloped hillsides covered with pine trees.

Forest
As the hills slope further upwards, they begin to flatten out into vast pine forests. There are a few clearings where twolegs seem to stay for several nights at a time during Greenleaf, but they're easily avoidable and pretty spread out. Twolegs usually only stay for long in Greenleaf, and leave the clan cats alone as the felines don't draw too much attention to themselves and stay out of sight. There is a river that runs through the forest, down the hillside, and feeds into the ocean from a smaller stream created by a waterfall.

Camp
There is a large, rocky outcrop sticking out from the hills that houses the caves that are home to the clan. Camp has two entrances, one opens in the forest, and the other opens on the beach. Within the outcrop, there is one, large, central cave with access to both openings. It also serves as the camp's main clearing. There are several smaller caves that lead to the dens for each respective clan ranking. The leader's den is the only one above ground, seated just above the tunnel to the forest opening, allowing for the leader to watch over the entirety of the clan from his or her perch. The floors of all the ground caves, including the central one, are covered with sand and dirt. Some bushes have managed to grow in small clusters around the clearing, offering some shelter and comfortable places to nap, besides the rocks that seem to be absolutely everywhere.

Clan meetings are usually held at the top of the outcrop, rain or shine. The leader speaks from atop a large rock that sits right at the edge, over the beach. The side of the outcrop has flat rocks that serve as natural stair steps, so it's easily accessible.

Meeting with Starclan: Whispering Meadow
Founded by CavernClan's first medicine cat, Silenttongue, this massive grove of wisteria trees and other varieties of plants and flowers was named for the sound made when it's leaves and petals would brush against each other in the breeze. In the center is a clear, shallow pond that reflects the sky directly above it. On cloudless nights, the moon often rises directly above the pond, surrounded by a vast array of stars, leaving a beautiful reflection. The grove itself is located in a valley a few miles north of camp, and it's generally only been seen by leaders and medicine cats.

Newleaf []
Pretty cool and breezy towards the beginning. It rains in short spurts quite often, but that dies down towards the end of the season as Greenleaf starts to come around. Mornings in the forest are always greeted with thick clouds of fog that clear up towards the beginning of Sunhigh. Prey is replenished at large amounts towards the middle of Newleaf as many of the birds and rodents of the area have reproduced.

Usually quite hot and humid. Doesn't rain very often at all, but towards the end of the season a large rainstorm usually comes through, though not to the extent of the ones that occur during Leaf-fall. Prey amounts return to normal. Every couple nights or so, bio luminescent shrimp wash up with the tide, making it look as if the water itself glows in a bright blue color.

Leaf-fall []
Flood season. Warm and cold fronts clash constantly, causing monstrous storms that sometimes flood out the caves, forcing the clan to scale the hills and make temporary camp in the forest. Prey is hard to come by, but there's enough for everyone to be fed. Acquiring the "salt fever"* is common during this time.
*Salt Fever
Salt fever is a fatal disease that infects the lungs of the affected cat. Usually acquired because of prolonged exposure to cold, wet weather combined with the sea air. Symptoms include constant shivering, painful and/or bloody cough, blacking out, abnormal aggression, and insomnia. Kits and elders are the most likely victims of the disease if kept in an environment that isn't warm and comfortable.

Leaf-bare []
Air gets pretty dry and cold. Temperatures drop considerably and stay consistent for the vast majority of Leaf-bare. Most of the storms stop by the beginning of this season. Prey is scarce, and queens, kits, and elders are fed most of the food that is caught.

» Warrior Code «

‣ Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.

‣ Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.

‣ Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.

‣ Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.

‣ A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.

‣ Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

‣ A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.

‣ The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.

‣ After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.

‣ A Gathering of all Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.

‣ Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

‣ No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.

‣ The word of the Clan Leader is the warrior code.

‣ An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.

‣ A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
