You find yourself in a lush forest, wandering in search of something interesting. Faint hunger gnaws at your belly as you make your way through the woods, your mind drifting to the topic of food. Perhaps you'll find a mouse or two. If you're desperate, you might beg the two-legs for some of their food. You wrinkle your nose at the thought.
Fallen pine needles and dried leaves crunch under your paws as you stop by a large creek. Mist clouds the area, making it difficult to see. You somehow spot a mouse on the bank and you crouch down, ready to pounce.
Suddenly, you're slammed flat against the ground by something much stronger than you. Claws dig into your shoulder, and bright amber eyes shimmer in their sockets. You struggle feebly and yowl as loud as your small lungs allow.
"Oh shut u-" the voice starts.
"Duskpaw!" a female voice rings out. A she-cat surfaces from the mist with piercing evergreen eyes. Her pelt is a beige gold color with black markings.
"What exactly do you think you are doing so very close to the edge of our territory?" she questions with an irritated tone. "Would you like for me to prolong your warrior ceremony for disobeying orders again? She flicks her bright eyes to you and settles her gaze.
"And would you mind explaining what this is?
Duskpaw, the young tom pinning you down shrunk back at the mentioning of the warrior ceremony.
"Whatever that is," you think to yourself.
"Dumb loner I found near the boarder," he starts defensively, "He was about to take some of our rightful prey. Thought I'd teach him a lesson and get him off of our territory for good." He fluffed up his dark tabby fur in pride.
The female cat hisses in anger, not at you, but at Duskpaw. He seems taken aback by her sudden hostility.
"Go back to camp," she snaps. He steps off of you and nods slightly to the female. He disappears into the forest, throwing an angry glare back at you. You scrambled up from the pebbles you were pressed against just a moment ago and tense your legs, ready to run.
To your surprise, the female cat sighs and glances at you, deep in thought. "Come on, you're coming back to camp with me," she says directly to you.
"C-camp?"
She smiles sadly and shakes her head. "You have much to learn, young one."
