brightleap chuckled lightly laying down and tucking her paws under her chest. she strained her ears and listened to their conversation. her eyes widened when purple spoke about how she loved him, "seriously? there ages apart, does she even know what love is." she frowned and rolled her eyes, cringing when sandstar spoke about how he didn't love her. "she's testing him" she sighed

the calico medicine cat watched her apprentice leave the den. she smiled to herself. fernpaw was like her daughter, and she couldn't have asked for a better apprentice. after a few moments in her den, she slipped out into camp. she stopped. tension was thick in the leaf bare air. her light green gaze landed on purpleflower and sandstar. sorrelcloud's eyes widened. she knew that purpleflower had caught a fondness toward the leader. with the reactions of the cats around camp, she put the pieces together. sorrelcloud caught snowstorm, brightleap, and sunstorm in a corner. quietly, she padded toward the three, and dipped her head in acknowledgement. "did she confess?" she murmured, joining the three.

his stomach flipped with sympathy as sandstar rejected purpleflower. he couldn't take the tension and desperation in the camp air. trying not to attract any unnecessary attention, he padded out camp. kestralpaw figured that if ivy wing wasn't going to train him, he should at least do something efficient for the clan. he decided to hunt. it wouldn't hurt to run a bit, and plus, it would warm him up. he opened his jaws to try to catch any scent of prey in the frozen forest, but everything was stale. instead he took the next best thing for a trail: warmth. he followed the heat that hadn't died. kestralpaw almost jumped out of his pelt once the bushes rustled beside him. excitement and hope sparked through his chest. food!

the dappled tom crouched to low on the cold forest floor. he didn't bother to smell the air, he wasn't taking a chance. after all, his senses were frozen. through the opened strands of the frosted elder bush, he spotted fur. without a second thought, kestralpaw took a strong leap, and slammed onto a body bigger than squirrel. his eyes widened once he realized he had pinned down the medicine cat apprentice, fernpaw.

Not noticing this wasn't an enemy, Littlepaw yowled in rage, barreling into Kestrelpaw. She hissed in his face unsheathing her claws. "Back off!" Her eyes were glazed over in fury. Being raised to act like this to an attack, this was completely natural for Littlepaw.

The Tom looked at the young queen. "Purpleflower, I can't. You need to understand that. I can't return feelings for you, I'm sorry." He dipped his head and padded into his den. Breaking a heart of a young she-cat, I just couldn't love her back. Who did I love exactly? Now that I think about it..could it be possible? Well no, I'm leader I just couldn't...but there is that one she-cat.

ivywing padded back into camp with her fish, setting it down in the fresh kill pile. she looked across the camp, padding over to the group of cats in the center. "what's going on?" she asked, pointing to purpleflower and sandstar.

vixenleap had gone back to the nursery by now, curling her tail around her paws. she sighed softly, thinking about what they were doing by now.

fernpaw yelped as she was tackled and pinned, immediately looking up to see kestrelpaw. she blushed softly, then when littlepaw attacked she jumped away and sort of shrunk back. "littlepaw, relax, it's just kestrelpaw." she said with a gentle tone.

sunstorm looked over at brightleap, snowstorm, and then at sorrelcloud. the medicine cat was beautiful, but her love was forbidden from him. his chest tightened in slight sadness, but went unnoticed. "purpleflower has absolutely no idea what love is. also... she's never had a mate... so how would she be a queen? there's no logic." he said, rolling his eyes. when she talked, he looked to sorrelcloud. "yeah, she did, but he rejected her. honestly, she seems quite desperate. i remember when she came here, first thing first she stared at sandstar for at least an hour meanwhile the rest of us were working to bury the dead ones and rush the living to the medicine den. even vixenleap was working with her kits and injuries, yet purpleflower seemed to be 'excused' from her duties while everyone else slaved away." sunstorm didn't necessarily like the shecat, either way, but he thought that there was something funny about her. she hadn't had a mate before, so why was she a queen? she didn't have kits, nor was she pregnant, so she should've been a warrior. "guys, something funny's going on with purpleflower. she's a queen, yet she hasn't a mate in blazeclan or in rainclan, she hasn't had kits, and she isn't pregnant... yet, she's still a queen."

She nodded. What SunStorm had said made lots of sense; She sighed "Maybe she was pregnant, but her kits were stillborn?" She meowed, her ears twitching. She wrapped her tail around her paws, and watched as SunStar rejected PurpleFlower. She sighed "She just doesn't understand" She meowed sadly. She would never probably find love herself; She was different from the others. She was more.. as some of the others called it 'To Happy'.

He sighed and exited from his den, I can't be sulking, not point to. Sandstar looked over at the warrior who were gossiping, "Back to your duties, Sunstorm, go on a patrol with another warrior. Take an apprentice if you can, I want some prey brought back also." Sandstar sighed and flicked his tail to the fresh kill pile, I need to take my mind off things. He picked up a mouse and padded back to his den.

Her eyes becoming normal, Littlepaw gazed down at Kestrelpaw. "Don't ever do that again if you want to live." She hissed, jumping off of the other 'paw, and sheathed her claws. "It was his fault, he can't tell fresh kill from cats." And tossed her head.
