Waiting in her den, Ashstar waved her tail around for entertainment. She was bored.

Shortkit crouched behind Ashstar.
I hope she didn't see me... She thought.
"Attack!" She yowled, hurtling towards Ashstar.
Shortkit pounced on Ashstar's tail.
"Ha! That'll teach you to not mess with MapleClan!"
She yowled in triumph.

"Hey there Shortkit!"
She turned round right when when Shortkit had pounced on her.

"Maybe you should stay in the nursery, you are a kit after all. But don't worry, you are going to be an apprentice soon. Just a few moons to go."

"Ooh, really?" Shortkit squealed.
"I want to be an apprentice -- no, wait,
I want to be a warrior!"
She hopped around in excitement.
"I want to hunt, I want to fight,
I want to-" She stopped and blinked.
"Sorry Ashstar, I'll head back to
the nursery.."
She padded slowly to the nursery.
I guess I got a little too carried away..

She smiled as the kit walked back to the nursery.

It's so boring being a kit... Shorkit thought.
There aren't many cats to play with..
An idea popped into her head.
I got it! I'll sneak out of camp!
I'll be really quiet, and no one will notice!
She went behind the nursery,
and took a secret route out of camp.

Ashstar smelt Shortkits scent. It didn't sound like the usual Shortkit.
She knew the little kit would be mischievous. So she followed the scent.

"This is great.." Shortkit said to herself.
"The sounds of the forest, the prey.."
"ooh! The prey!" She dropped into a crouch,
and stalked a mouse.
The mouse scrabbled away.
"Fox dung!" She hissed.
She picked up Ashstar's scent.
Why did I ever sneak out of camp,
my apprenticeship might get delayed!
I need to hide!
She found a rabbit hole and climbed in the
tight space.
I hope she doesn't find me here..

She followed Shortkits scent out into the open. Her scent ended at a bush, so she looked in and saw Shortkit.
Ashstar looked angry.

"H-hi Ashstar..."
Shortkit scrabbled out of the rabbit hole.
"I didn't mean to!" She blurted out.
"It's just so boring having no one to play with
or just being a kit!"
