In the beginning...

Lightning flashed in the sky and the distant rumble of thunder warned of an impending storm.The rain had yet to fall but the dark gray clouds blocking the sun seemed to promise that they would let down their burden soon enough.The air was filled with tension as everything seemed to hold its breath, awaiting the first drops of rain.In an already muddy clearing, not too far from a rushing river, a group of cats glanced up at the sky nervously.The coming storm could only be a bad omen, one prophesying that only trouble could come from the current arguing.At the center of the gathered cats, two cats faced each other with ruffled pelts.One was a long-haired silver tabby she-cat, her pelt seeming streaked with darker gray streaks like the currents in a river.Her bright leafy green eyes flashed with anger as she watched the tom in front of her frostily. The large dark brown tabby tom for his part stood rigidly,his own leafy green gaze glowing angrily as he moved one of his white paws closer to her."This ends tonight Willowfall. Forestclan can't afford to be divided any longer." He mewed gravely, his anger adding a rumble to his words.The she-cat dipped her head in agreement, though it was clear she disliked agreeing with him."Your right Oakstep. It is time for the clan to become two.Those who wish to follow me shall become part of Willowclan."She mewed, her voice soft but hard and cold as steel.The tom regarded her, his tail lashing."Those who wish to come with me shall become part of Oakclan. Well, take the forest part of the territory.You can have the territory on the other side of the stream."He mewed evenly, gesturing with his tail at the wetter half of what had been Forestclan's vast territory. Willowfall nodded in acceptance, they had already discussed this a few sunrises before.Betrayal replaced the anger in his eyes as Oakstep watched the she-cat before him."Then till the next full moon sister."He mewed quietly. Willowfall sighed sadly."Till then brother."She mewed in answer, the anger swept from her gaze as rain drops slowly began to fall, replaced instead with vague sadness that this had been the only possible solution to their arguing. Without a further word,the two cats turned and walked in opposite directions.Cats from all around began to follow one or the other.Here and there families and friends began to divide uncertainty till the clearing was once more empty. Only paw prints remained in the mud to show that they were once there on that stormy day, however, even that would soon be erased by the rain. Only the cats present would remember how one clan became two because two litter mates had fought for the leadership of their clan. Their mother having died in battle with the clan's former deputy.Soon enough the dark clouds released their heavy burden in earnest and the thunder became a raging roar as the rain washed away all signs that there had ever been a unified clan. It seemed as if even Starclan mourned its loss angrily.

...many moons later...

Willowfall became Willowstar the leader of Willowclan, while her brother Oakstep became Oakstar the leader of Oakclan. They led their clans well but died none the less many moons after their conflict. Many leaders have since then come and gone. There is still a lot of tension between the two clans as every cat tries to make peace with the past. A few could not handle the conflict that followed in the moons after the divide and left to become kittypets, loners, or even rogues. Their decedents now live those lives, with only the stories they might have been told as kits to remind them of their heritage. Slowly over time, each clan has developed individual traits based on the ones from the original clan which had prospered in a wooded area. Willowclan cats became great swimmers, and fishers, known for their grace and speed. Oakclan cats got better at climbing and jumping, known for their brute strength and endurance. Every day the original separation between the clans grows stronger, the ties between them weaker, even as some refused to forget their distant kin.At present, those ties are weaker than ever before.There is a prophecy brewing however in Starclan that speaks of some cats rising and bringing the two clans back together when they need eachother most. Of past mistakes being made once more right. These, however, are only rumors in starclan, whispered eagerly by the oldest of their cats and haven't even made their way to the ears of either clan's medicine cats yet. For now, each clan much try to survive the hardships of clan life, under the watchful eyes of their ancestors in starclan, as the possible threat grows increasingly all too real. Will they be ready to listen and work together when the time comes? Will the past finally be made right? Not even starclan knows the anserw to that.

...So will your cats survive the darkness coming?

RP rules:

1.All of Tess's rules apply here and must therefore be followed and kept in mind.
2. No swearing unless you use swear words from warriors like "Mousedung" for example.
3. No assigning your cats major roles, such as in the coming prophecy, i will choose whose cats will be in it based on how much they RP their cats (p.s. this includes medicine cat's making prophecies, signs, etc ... I'll have a starclan cat give you a message or give you signs.)
4.Keep the names of yours cats and their pelts realistic, no naming your cat Vanillafur and saying she has bright white fur with bright green spots for example. Clan cats have never heard of Vanilla and don't use twolegplace names. Not even rogues, loners or kittypets who join the clan. However, you can use names like Vanilla, Egg, Silk, Hershey, etc... for your non-clan cats if you wish.
5. Your cats are expected to follow the warrior code, however, they may break it, though they will eventually be punished if they are caught
6. No power playing,and no killing or permanently injuring other people's cats without their permission. You may kill off your cats at any time, however, please be careful of how you kill them and keep in mind how it will affect the clan. (Ex: A badger kills your cat, well now the clan has a badger to watch out for and chase out of their territory.)
7. Mystical powers, cases of being reborn, will be allowed however they need to be approved by me first. Cats will not be reborn without a very good reason and powers will only possibly be given to prophesy cats.
8. Please, do not do any big events without my approval first.
9.One of the my most important rules is be respectful on this post, and treat others as you wish to be treated. If disputes arise, please message me and we'll work it out, outside the RP.
10. Please use brackets when speaking out of RP and try to write more then just one sentence replies if you can

Birchstar
Last leader of Forestclan before it dissolved into Willowclan and Oakclan. Long-haired white she-cat with brown tabby patches that leave the better part of her body white. Her eyes are a bright leafy green.She's stubborn and fierce but loving and honest as well.Her kits are Willowstar and Oakstar. Her mate was a warrior called Floodstep.She lost her last life from serious wound received when a fox attacked her clan's camp, taking everyone by surprise. She was heartbroken when her deputy Leafstrike died moments before she did, not leaving her enough time to name a new deputy and leaving her clan without one as well as a leader. She had to watch as her clan was ripped apart by her two quarreling kits whom the clan believed would both make good leaders.

Willowstar
The first leader of Willowclan. Long-haired silver tabby she-cat with dark tabby stripes and bright leafy green eyes. Stubborn and ruthless but loving and patient.Her parents are Birchstar and Floodstep. Her littermates are Oakstar and Pinepaw.She never had a mate.She lost her last life saving an apprentice from drowning in the river after a particularly bad storm.She died before she could set things right with her brother, and now she often wonders if they did the right thing in splitting the clan up.

Oakstar
The first leader of Oakclan. Large dark brown tabby tom with white paws and bright leafy green eyes. Stubborn and proud but sweet and protective.His parents are Birchstar and Floodstep. His littermates are Willowstar and Pinepaw. He loved a she-cat long ago but they never became mates. He lost his last life in a battle with Willowclan. He died hating his sister and her clan, he refuses to see dividing the original clan as a mistake.

Medicine Cats:
Cinderflame
He was the last medicine cat of Forestclan and the first of Oakclan. Dark grey tom with bright amber eyes. He's impatient and callous at times but wise and trust worthy to. He lost his life to greencough , after trying to help a number of his clanmates heal from the horrible sickness.His former apprentice was the first Willowclan medicine cat. He walks in the dreams of both Oakclan and Willowclan medicine cats now.

Former Forestclan deputy,was the last before the clan divided. Light brown tabby she-cat with cream colored underbelly fur and dark blue eyes. She's fierce and independent but clever and hard-working to. Sparrowkit is her younger brother.She never had a mate.She died protecting her clan in a fox attack, the same fox that had killed her little brother a few sunrises before.She watched along with Birchstar as the clan divided, it broke her heart to her clanmates turn against one another. Especially since she was Willowstar's mentor.

Personality of Cat: Streamstar is a very proud and independent she-cat,who rarely asks for help but is always ready to give it. She can be fierce when fighting for her clan and what she believes is right, however she is a loving and compassionate leader otherwise. She can be harsh when it comes to punishing trespassers or her clanmates but she's always fair as well. She will never let her feelings keep her from doing her duty,even if it tears her apart inside.Her only weakness is that she's afraid of water, but she hides it very well or so she thinks. She can swim and fish like every other Willowclan cat, but avoids doing so because of her fear as much as she can.Its because of this fear that she has become well practiced in hiding her emotions.It seems ironic that her greatest strength is the very thing she fears, swimming.

History: She was born in Willowclan, and raised as a Willowclan cat. When she was a young apprentice she fell into the river dividing Oakclan and Willowclan's territory, nearly drowning in the process because she hurt her leg when she fell and was unable to swim to the surface. This incident is what made her afraid of water,but she quickly learned to hide it as she continued to swim and fish for her clan.Her leader made her deputy after the last one died in terrible fight with Oakclan.When her leader died many moons later,she became leader in his place.
Other:She knew Russetstar as an apprentice, as a young warrior she even fancied him a little but when she became deputy, she put all feelings for him aside.

Personality of Cat: Russetstar is a charming and flirty tom, though often very sarcastic.Despite his at times questionable attitude, he's very loving and compassionate , rarely ever one to get mad.His stubborn arrogance is one of his only downfalls, since it always leads him to believe he's stronger then any other cat, as well as more clever to. The only cat who has ever outwitted him is Streamstar, and he admires her for it, even as he tries to plan new ways of getting more of Willowclan's land. He's a little selfish in the sense that he doesn't believe peace is always the best answer when it comes to feeding more cats.He would do anything for is clan though, and always has time to play with kits or take care of the elders.

History: He was born in the clan and raised by the former leader as her adopted kit, when his own mother died four moons after he was born. He excelled in his warrior training under her teaching, and grew up to be a respected warrior in the clan, despite all his flirting ways. So when her deputy was killed, the leader named him the new deputy. His was heart-broken when she died but pushed past his grief to be the leader the clan needed.
Other:He's known Streamstar since they were young apprentices,as a young warrior he was even a little smitten with her, though he's put aside his feelings for her because of his duty to his clan, he still admires her both for her beauty as well as her skill as a warrior but he would never admit it.

Personality of Cat: Sootsong is a very sweet and gentle cat, even if her name makes it seem as though that's not true. She loves helping other and spending time with them, it not only makes the others happy, but it makes her very happy as well. She doesn't blend in to the forest well, but she is somehow a very sly and hard to see cat. Ecpecially when she's trying to hide or watch in secret. Somehow, her slyness doesn't apply when she is battling. She is easily spotted in battles, known for her very light grey pelt and gleaming green eyes. She is perfectly fine with easily being spotted, but it sometimes bothers her. Anyways, she is a very kind she-cat, helping anyone at their call.

Kin: She has no living kin currently. Her mother was named Lavenderflower, her father was unknown, and she doesn't know if she has any other siblings besides Oaktail. Lavenderflower is a deceased she-cat, Oaktail being a deceased tom.
History: Sootsong grew up different from others. She was born with a clan-cat mother and a father that she never met. She was born with a sibling named Oakkit, not knowing if she had any other siblings. When she was 12 moons old, her father ran away for another she-cat. Her mother ran after him, not wanting him to leave. This left her and her brother without parents, because neither of them ever returned. She is guessing that they're both dead by now, being scrawny cats with lots of bones showing. Their forward she lived a pretty normal clan-cat life. One day her and Oaktail were out by a river hunting. Her brother had accidentally got to close to an adder nest, causing one to get angry and bite his hind leg. Oaktail suffered and died a few days later. As of now, she has learned to move on, still not forgetting her amazing brother, loving mother, and her fox hearted father.

Personality: Goldenfur is a funloving, playful cat. He loves making others smile and acts like a kit most of the time. He knows that he can sometimes overstep his boundaries when he's talking to another cat, but he will promptly and sincerely apologize if he does.
