The tom padded through the darkness of the warriors' den, making sure to not step on another cat's tail. The dark-coloured bengal's steps were light, which had, of course, given him his name; his prominent pelt colour and ability to be as silent as a shadow was to thank for it. He celebrated his warrior name, as it had reflected both his appearance and his talents. With him, skill was highly looked upon, and he accepted nothing less than the best to be close to him. Which might've explained why he didn't have any friends - he was so busy pondering who was exceptional when it came to talents that he didn't notice any other cats.
Nearby, Meadowgaze began to shuffle in her nest. Curiously, Nightstep looked over her, before turning away with disdain. It was beneath him to care for the she-cat; she was one of the most obnoxious cats in the Clan. Or at least that was his opinion - he wasn't quite sure where others stood, but it surely wasn't a good viewpoint. Nobody seemed to like her much.
"Wake up," the tom muttered in Meadowgaze's direction. He was slightly affronted by her laziness; of course, what cat didn't get up before dawn? How lazy, he wondered, would these cats have to be in order for StormClan to fall into tatters?

The she-cat's shuffles in her nest had obviously woken up at least one cat. She heard the soft shuffles around her and a low, barely audible 'wake up' in her direction. Lifting her head lazily, her eyes took in the blurry form of Nightstep; she paused, then pulled her ears back, pinning them against her head.
"Well, sorry that I don't get up before dawn!" Meadowgaze whispered back angrily. The tom was so condescending that it was blatantly annoying. He only thought of the best within the Clan and had 0 compassion for the cats who weren't as skilled as some others. No compassion, no sympathy; it seemed like his life was just as white-and-black as his pelt was - a pelt she wanted to shred off.
