Once her clan had gathered she lifted her tail to ask their silents. Her eyes rested for a moment on the small apprentice, lizard dangling from her mouth. It was almost enough to make her smile. Almost. Curving her audits forward she once more rose to her paws, looking over the rest of the cats. "Ravenclaw, Firewinds, you two will take the border patrol. Rabbittail, Spottedfire , hunting." She glanced around, taking in the remaining cats. "Silverleaf, I want you to assist Rainstep today." She hadn't missed the sweet scent of shriveled berries that had been snaking from her den lately... the young she-cat would probably need to collect more, soon if not now.

"As some of you might be wondering, I have been thinking on who I'll be making deputy of the clan." Her voice was strong and authoritative, not withholding of any firmness though her expression softened slightly. "It's been many moons, and you deserve an answer. All I can do is console you in the surety that we will have such a cat before the next gathering." She paused for a moment before moving subjects. "Additionally, there's a storm rolling in, any spare time you find, attend to the dens. If you find anything that needs patching up then see to it. We don't need another flood like last time!"
If she wasn't mistaken the only cats remaining were herself and the apprentice. She remained silent in her closing, finally dipping her head to dismiss her warriors and turning to leap from her perch... If they had any questions they could ask her from there...

Rabbittail listened attentively to the clan meeting. As Jackalstar pulled it to a close, he stood up an stretched his tail. With a smile, he searched for Spottedfire throughout the huddle of cats. He spotted the pretty dappled she cat below the rock and approached, tail flickering.
"Let's go." He spoke. He cast a glance to the rest of the clan.

Firewinds grunted in annoyance. What does a cat have to do for a nice, peaceful nap? He stood up and padded to Ravenclaw, dragging his paws along the way. He ignored the hairless patch on his left forepaw as he stood beside the warrior he had been assigned to.
"Let's get this over with." He muttered.

As soon as the meeting was called to a close, Shortpaw darted to the fresh kill pile and deposited the lizard. She trotted toward Jackalstar, slowing her pace and keep her head eye as she approached so as to seem more mature.
"Jackalstar?" She called out slowly.
"Is there any where that you want to assign me to today? Or to anycat? Preferably a mentor?" She hoped that Jackalstar would be impressed with her speech.

Jackalstar looked down at the young apprentice; she seemed a confident one and she liked it. The smile that almost cracked before escaped now, and Jackastar laughed a bit. She couldn't help but find the young cats enthusiasm anything but endearing. Lifting a paw she ruffled the fur on Shortpaw's head, flicking her ears with amusement. "Of course you'll be assigned to a cat. You'll be coming with me today." She explained with a smile. "And don't worry, we're going to find you a mentor soon..."

Shortpaw stood up and proudly puffed out her chest.
She'd be with Jackalstar today! She'd show her just how mature she is!
"So what are we to do first, Jackalstar?" She asked, trying to hide her smile and look serious.

The she-cat got up. "alright" she murmurred. and followed RabbitTail out of camp.

Jackalstar chuckled a bit, pausing a moment to look over each shoulder as if someone might be listening. "Well... first we're going to make sure these flea-bags get their tails in gear!" Her words were a bit mean but her tone was friendly and joking. She smiled once more, waving her tail back and forth. "But then we'll get going. I have something very special planned for us~" There was a certain light in her eyes that suddenly made her smile seem less friendly and more challenging. Stepping lightly, she circled the small apprentice, taking a quick analysis of her features and posture. She was eager, keen of eye, proud and enthusiastic; each things she liked in a young cat and something about seeing it inspired her. "That is, if you're up for it."

Ashfeather-
She was practicing her levitating skills on feathers as she weaves new ones into her fur. She tried picking up the mouse she caught earlier and to her suprise it was a success, she had nothing else to do but return to camp so she did.

Jackalstar looked up then, noticing Ashfeather comming back into the camp. Her right ear flicked in slight annoyance as she found herself pulled away from the young apprentice. Half-heartedly, she waved her tail for the young one to stay close -- she didn't want to be losing her. "Ashfeather..." She started, stopping before the other female. "Where have you been? You missed the clan meeting..."
