"Hm." Crekara flicked his tail. "Fair enough. One last question for you."

"Ask it," Jackdaw grunted.

"What is your name?"

"Don't see why it matters," Jackdaw grunted, "but the name's Jackdaw. My old Twolegs used ta call me Jack."

[Cradily]

"Jackdaw, huh?" Crekara seemed to be talking more to himself than to the cat before him. "I'll remember."

"What about yours?" Jackdaw returned.

[Cradily]

"Crekara."

[C a s]

"Do ya know her's?" Jackdaw flicked his tail to where the she-cat had disappeared.

Brindle, however, had just arrived at camp. Still bristling, she lay her prey in the pile.

[Cradily]

Crekara nodded. "I do."

"What is it?" Jackdaw asked.

Brindle tread carefully toward Timberstar's den, assuming that's where he would be.
