Woodburn rolled his eyes. He was clearly not too happy about being interrupted by the very cat he was venting to Dawnflower about, but he didn't argue and quickly found a seat in the crowd of cats. He twitched an ear when she whispered to him and followed her gaze to the gray tabby she-cat sitting next to Lightningfoot. "I don't know," he murmured back, confused. "But I'm guessing she's what this meeting is about."
Jaguarclaw forced his eyes open (he'd closed them before while tears poured out of them). At once, the tears stopped flowing and he quieted down. His pupils were mere slits in his wide yellow eyes and his mouth hung slightly open, but he had regained control of himself upon hearing Appleblossom's voice. He shook out his fur, jumped out of the tree he was in, and landed clumsily in front of her. "I am here," he meowed, trying to sound as if he was completely fine.
Amberflame greeted Alleyclaw with a casual meow. She shot a curious glance at the unfamiliar cat that sat not too far off and tilted her head, but said nothing.
Milkflower wasted little time in digging up the robin she had just buried and following Flamefur back to camp with the bird in her mouth. She dropped it on the fresh-kill pile and then took a seat beside her flame-colored friend.
Timberstar cleared his throat. "As I'm sure some of you have noticed by now, we have a stranger among us. But make no mistake, she isn't a threat. Her name is Ash and she wishes to join AshClan, however I must first test her to see if she is worthy. For the time being, she will be staying in the apprentices' den. Apprentices, and all cats of AshClan, if you see her doing anything even remotely suspicious, report to me at once. Lightningfoot, while I know that--" He cut himself off just before he could reveal that she was expecting his kits. After all, she had only told him that morning. She probably didn't want the whole of AshClan to know right then and there and would rather tell them herself. "That you've had your paws full with deputy duties lately, I'm leaving you in charge of Ash. I want you to keep a close watch over her at all times, and use your best judgment in whatever cases you see fit. On another note..." He took a deep breath. He almost couldn't believe it. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the departure of Skypaw. She has chosen to leave AshClan and live the life of a kittypet instead." His voice was much quieter now, only as loud as it needed to be for all the cats below to hear him. "That is all." Without another word, he leapt down from the Highrock.
