█ i peered out across the territory i claimed mine. yes, i was pretty young. but that didnt mean i couldnt claim something.

█ she scoffed, cuffing my ears slightly. i growled gruffly. aww, cmon leaf. i just wanted to pretend.
█ my mother went stiff when her ears heard the word pretend.
█ leaf spun around and disappeared into the bushes. i sat down, sighing. she hated hearing that word. i didnt know why she didnt like that word.
█ suddenly, i was shoved down quickly. i yowled loudly, calling for my mother, but stopped short when i realized who was on me.
█ i shoved my younger sister, puddle, off of me. mousebrain, i hissed, lashing at her ears, claws unsheathed.
█ before my claws made contact, someone grabbed my by the scruff and hauled me away. i snarled in anger but didnt fidget.
█ aww, tree, i was just joking! i growled at my older brother, pouting.
█ yeah, sure, thats why you had your claws unsheathed. tree replied tartly, dropping me quickly.
█ i shook my fur quickly and stared cold and hard off into the woods.

█ i started at the sound of my father's voice. my eyes peeled open slowly, and i smiled.

█ those were the last words i ever heard from my mother. my father, river, picked me up by the scruff and carried me out of the tree we were living in.

█ river didnt reply. he just walked on in silence with me in his maw.
█ i kept my jaws shut, and my eyes widened as i saw myself enter a clan.
█ i stared at my father, confused, but just stared, wide-eyed at the cats staring at me.
█ a strange cat padded up to my father and me, dipping its head.
█ hello, bat. i've heard much about you. i am talonstar. your father is leaving you here with us. therefore, you will be batpaw. we welcome you as a fully-respected apprentice of lightclan.
