As the sun made its debut appearance, the first golden rays of sunlight washing over the new camp brought with it the hope for a new, better day. But despite how beautiful and hopeful they were, for Mistyfire, they were still unwelcome. Last night sleep had come swiftly as they were exhausted after the long, arduous journey. But for this cat, the journey had started from the day they had decided to come out. Figuring their mother, of all cats, should be understanding, they had told her in confidence what they had known ever since apprenticeship. Predictably, it had not gone well. Unable to reconcile with what she didn't understand she had publicly shunned them, and feeling the tension on all sides, Mistyfire fled. A group of senior warriors was dispatched to chase them off the territory, all the while snapping at their heels and hurling jeers and insults.
Mistyfire had lived alone for a while, before hearing rumors of a group of cats like them. Different. He followed a loner's directions and came across Wrenstar and her band of cats. Even though Mistyfire was feeling tired and crabby this morning, no cat could deny MIstyf'ire's intense gratefulness to Wrenstar for allowing them to become part of the new Clan. As the sun rose, it symbolized a new day, a new start. Mistyfire opened their eyes. Perhaps they should get up after all. It would be selfish to not participate in patrols. So with a huff, the black and white cat rose to their paws, and padded in the camp centre, nose sniffing all the new scents, of elm and pine, of robin and mouse, of their new clanmates. And Mistyfire felt a sense of belonging, for the first time in ages. And that feeling was welcome.
