The tom sat outside and licked his pelt looking up at the sky. He wondered what it was like to be leader and crouched could he ever be deputy he padded up to his leader and sat down "Rainstar, Is it possble I could ever become deputy??" he asked his a hint of hope in his golden eyes.

"Oh yes, Shelldust." I meowed quietly and sat down beside Shelldust. "You'd have to have a apprentice first. It's in the Warrior Code. You know your Warrior Code. Am I correct?" I curled my long tail across my paws.

Poppypaw

I sat down at the Medicine Cat Den entrance. I was a little bored, of course because I had nothing to do. I could check on my favorite cat though, Gingerpelt. I thought.

"I forgot you never gave me one.." he sighed looking at his paws and letting all the hope die from his eyes.. "Is it possible I could get the next one than become deputy??" he asked.

I purred gently and looked at the young tom. "Shelldust, once there is another apprentice I will assign you the apprentice. But no promise that you'd be next deputy." I meowed hopefully I didn't hurt the poor tom's feelings.

The tom nodded and stalked out of the den.. What was the warrior code about and why did it have to be important.. He never liked the code and never followed it but it was stupid that he had to have an apprentice first. He let out a dramatic sigh and laid down.

I sighed quietly and turned around to my nest. I prayed to Star Clan, asking them to help Shelldust. I felt bad for the tom, but I still have to be strict.

Poppypaw
Seeing Shelldust slump down and sigh I padded up to him. My blue eyes narrowed at him. "What's wrong, Shelldust..?" I asked quietly, seeing he was sad. I sat down in front of him and lowered my head down to his eye level. I smiled at him slightly.

He sighed "I cant be deputy until I get an apprentice.. I just dont understand why it has to be a rule.." he growled slightly looking at the young she~cat.

"I can tell you the story of why we have that rule. Gingerstar told me it before." I purred at Shelldust. "It's okay not to understand, I didn't understand some rules too."

Hearing my name I waddled out of my den. Seeing Poppypaw I waddled up to her. "Hello, Poppypaw and Shelldust. You called for me?" I purred.
