The Pony Games (MLP/HG, Not Accepting Tributes)

"I personally thought Luna was the best princess, but I guess she just snapped. I know how that feels like..." I mutter, the last part not that audible.

Mosely frowned. "I suppose the Nightmare spirit did possess her, so we can't really blame Luna." Shrugging, he spoke once again. "It could've happened to any of us. She's just ridiculously powerful and thus affects more of us." He still wondered if Celestia had ever been corrupted - surely the alicorn who controlled the sun and was ocassionally accused of being a tyrant would be a target?

Violin replied, "it's fine. I was just trained to survive rather than how to... live, I guess..."

Queen WhiteStar watched the contenders on the screen. She grinned in malice as she saw another pony fall.

I furrow my brow in thought. "Well, there is one tale of Celestia, who turned into monster. She was not afraid of burning ponies alive, or killing them. She was much worse than Nightmare Moon," I say, remembering the old tale my mother had told me long ago.

Mosely tilted his head thoughtfully, trying to imagine what an evil Celestia would look like. He had never even seen her angry at all, so it was hard. The only thing he could imagine was her looking like a monster - maybe with batpony wings (not that he found them particularly scary; Gwen did have them after all) and a deep red coat, but still with the same kindly smile. "That's certainly hard to believe. How'd she get cured?"

Noteworthy looked at her for a few moments in surprise. That was a fate he couldn't imagine. All his life, even when he failed in doing something he would be encouraged to try again and given a break; be told that it was alright. To quote them, "These are just precautions in case some other strong stallion doesn't come along and volunteer." He had taken that to heart, believing that he probably wouldn't need those skills. But somehow, nopony had volunteered as tribute, leaving him.

Violin smiled at Noteworthy sadly and then got back to work, getting the buck on a spit so it would roast over the fire.

"Luna used the Elements, just like Celestia used them on her before. Celestia became Solar Flare-her nightmare- before Luna turned into Nightmare Moon for the first time," I explain.

Finally Noteworthy finished cooking, and drew the bird from the fire. He had plucked the feathers off earlier, meaning it was now ready to eat. He examined it a little more to confirm it was done and began eating it. The food, actually, could taste better. Much better. But it was edible, he was hungry, and there wasn't much else to eat.

"That's rather unsurprising." Mosely wasn't sure what else he was expecting. Nearly every problem had been fixed with those.

I smile. "I know, I mean, couldn't the princesses find some other way to banish all of those ponies before?" I ask, mostly to myself.
