Shadow's memories flashed before him as the water in the ocean lapped at his crate edges. His light green eyes were blurry and he was sprawled out across the floor of the crate bottom. Listening to the water slosh underneath, and the animal noises under the surface. He was very weak, and needed care soon. A bump of the crate on land jolted him back up frightened that it was another curious animal bumping underneath his only protection against the waters. Once again he slid the lid of the crate ever so slightly, and peered his shadowy head through the small gap, his pupils adjusting to the sun's rays. His big eyes widened as he stared around where he was at. There was only the dark blue lapping waves on one side of the crate. The other side had wedged into the soft sand, trees and grass following it. His chest filled with joy as he crawled like a spider out of his cooped up shelter. Spreading his wings in awe he scanned around the trees and grass. Shadow squealed in delight and sprinted across the sand at the sight of a dead fish washed up on the shore. Tripping into the sand he jumped up surprised at how cold it was against his face. Shaking the sand from his face, he hovered a little, skimming the ground with his legs. Finally he reached the delicacy, his mouth watering. Not even hesitating, he ate the whole thing and in the matter of a minute he threw the bones back up. Rolling over in the sand, he played around a bit. He sniffed at the sand and sneezed. He sniffed again. The smell was so familiar, but it had been so long since he smelled the scent of a fellow Nightfury. Ears pricking, he saw footprints of the dragon in the sand. And then he realized there were not one, but two trails of dragon tracks, trailing into the woods. Shadow decided to call out to see if they were in earshot of hearing him. He had been alone so long and desperately wanted to find a fellow dragon.
