Gingershade sniffed and stopped dead. "That's strange..." she replied quietly. "They're way too close to the border... we should go back and report it to Brownstar," she suggested. She ran through the forest, desperate to tell their leader. She almost tripped over a large tree root, but missed it in time. At last she saw the camp entrance sliding into view. What if there was an attack while she was running to warn Brownstar? She burst into the camp and walked briskly to the leader's den. "Brownstar?" she called.

Duskstep nodded but didn't follow Gingershade, "I will stay back and check Lone Maple, come back as fast as you can!"

Spottedpaw's heart began to beat and her paws suddenly felt numb. "W-wait for me!" she shouted and darted after her mentor. She stumbled a couple times on the way back from her numbing limbs. Were they about to be in a battle?

The leader emerged from his den and glared down at Gingershade from highrock. He could tell by the tone of her voice that something wasn't right. "What is it? What's wrong?"

Rainpaw chuckled, moving closer to Brittleears. "I'm glad I could help you, Maplewatcher. Don't worry, Brittleears. "I don't mind moving at all." She looked down at her paws,wrinkling at the nasty smell of her chest fur. It was horrible. She set to work at Brittleear's fur, looking through his fur for ticks. "Now that I think about it... Is there anything in particular you can tell me about my denmates? I know that they care for you as well. Surely they tell you things?"

Gingershade took a few breaths, and then finally talked. "RockClan and SoulClan scents are too close to the border. Come with me, quick!" She ran out of the camp, making sure not to run into any cat. She ran through the trees, careful to not trip.

Duskstep ran hastily, but stealthily towards Lone Maple. The scents were growing stronger and he began to question if going alone was a good decision. As he drew closer he could hear loud yowls that made the fur on his back bristle. What in StarClan was going on? Peering into the clearing he saw a cluster of cats, all fighting each other. There were four Rock Clan cats that the tom could recognize. The one that caught his eye the fastest was Rock Clan’s pale-gray deputy Dustfang. She was struggling to pull one of her own from a Soul Clan cat’s back. There were only three Soul Clan cats that Duskstep could see. One with pitched black fur, another with a dark tortoiseshell colored pelt, and a dark brown tabby. “Stop this Eaglewing!” the Rock Clan deputy hissed as she tried to pry the white pelted warrior from the tortoiseshell she-cat. “They are in Maple Clan’s territory now! We can’t be here!” she yowled, but the white tom refused to let go.

Brownstar's eyes grew wide, "Soul Clan? Rock Clan? Both of them? What is the meaning off this!?" he hissed and jolted off of high rock. "All cats of Maple Clan, brace yourselves for any possible attacks," he yowled in warning and was off. Blackcry followed behind him, just in case another cat was needed.

BrittleEars let out a loud purr as the apprentice groomed his fur and he stretched his aching legs out in front of him. "Those apprentices? Eh, they don't say much. That one eh.....Spottedpaw was it? All she does is complain..."
