Milkflower let out a sob when she saw Flypaw's beaten, bloodied body. "Flypaw! My darling Flypaw!" She raced to her son's side and began to groom him furiously. Only when she felt that she had done as best she could to clean him did she look up at Salazar, her blue eyes clouded with grief. "What?" she asked, her voice no more than a whisper. "What do you want in exchange for my son?"

Salazar smirked. "You see, I have something...special, planned for my sons. A final test of sorts. I want him." His eyes flitted to Sunfire. "Thought your never be back, did you, Sunny?"

Sunfire took a step back, his fur rising.

Tawnysky growled.

Hollowshadow followed the scent of Milkflower before finding her. He immediately rushed over, his eyes beginning to water at the sight of his son. He began to quiver in anger and sadness. "Who did this to Flypaw?!" He asked, dangerously quiet.

[Cradily]

"What?" Milkflower gasped, whirling around to look at Sunfire. "No! I won't let you harm a single hair on another one of my Clanmates!" She grabbed Flypaw by the scruff and backed up with him, bumping into Hollowshadow in the process. Her eyes widened with both relief and horror, relief that her mate was here and horror that he was in such a dangerous place. She leaned forward to transfer Flypaw from her mouth to Hollowshadow's, and once that was done, she said, "The rogues." That was all she could say, for she didn't know who exactly had attacked Flypaw. Then she placed herself in front of Sunfire and glared at the leader of the rogues with hatred burning in her eyes. "I will not let you hurt him," she repeated.

Mallowshade took a spot beside Milkflower, teeth bared and claws unsheathed.

Skyde had been watching from afar when he heard his father's words: "I have something...special, planned for my sons. A final test of sorts." The dark tabby's ears pricked up with interest but he made no move toward the group of cats. He would wait to be called on.

Firefly waited curiously.

Hollowshadow joined the line in front of Sunfire.

Salazar laughed. Drail had already moved to block the only exit on their hollow, and he flicked his tail, gesturing for Karok to join him. Salazar took a threatening step forward.

Sunfire licked Milkflower's back as a sign of friendship. "Milkflower, please, let me-for Blue-Blue. I need to do this." Tawnysky stepped in beside Mallowshade. He couldn't help but feel silly-they were a small circle of warriors and a broken apprentice, surrounded by a pack of trained-to-kill cats and foxes.

Karok was at Salazar's side in an instant. Her tail swished from side to side with excitement.

"What?" Milkflower stared at Sunfire as if he had gone crazy. "Sunfire, what in StarClan's name are you talking about? Bluespark has nothing to do with this, and I am not about to sit by while these rogues murder you in cold blood!" She almost looked angry at Sunfire for suggesting such a thing.

"You don't know they'll murder me," Sunfire pointed out. "Do it for Flypaw's sake. He'll die-we'll all die, probably-if you refuse. Let me avenge my mate. Please, Milkflower."

Hollowshadow watched them silently.

Bullet noticed the Clan cats from a distance, seeming quite angry about something . The she-cat padded over and hissed under her breath with a smirk,"Wow, they really did a number on you, didn't they?"
