"If they were all warriors, I would," Kestrelstar assured him. "But more than half of 'em are still kits or apprentices. I can't cast 'em out like that at such a young age. Plus..." He stared at his paws. "If Birchkit is goin' with 'em, I can't kick out my own son. I jus' wouldn't feel right doin' that. I wish there was somethin' I could do though. Trus' me, I don' like this any more than you do."

"I do recall him saying that he lives around here," Milkflower continued. "So perhaps you could meet him at some point!"

"I will!" Cinderfrost promised. "I should go now. But it was nice talking to you again!" She licked the surface of the water, as if licking Sootfall's nose, then watched as his reflection disappeared.

"Heronwing told 'em a story about a flyin' kit," Kestrelstar explained. "Then I think there was some...uh...some prophecy thing. It all soun's pretty mouse-brained if ya ask me. Cats ain't meant to fly, otherwise we'd've been born with wings, but I don' know I'm s'posed to make Ghostpaw an' the others see that."
