Char woke up, blinking his eyes open. He stretched and padded outside. "Darn it! I overslept again!" he muttered. He hurriedly gobbled up a few bites of some food leftover from the night before. "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late..." Char ran through the village. He was late, and he knew it. Today might be something important, and he didn't want to miss it. His golden-black fur flew like lightning across the village. At last, he came to the council, and sat down in a corner. "Did I miss anything?" he asked.

"No." Retro said. "Your lucky you weren't caught being late." he sighed. Poor Violet. She should be here. He knew they would notice she was still alive and search for her. He turned to the dog he had never seen before. "i'm Retro. What's your name?" he asked hoping for an answer and also hopping he wasn't a bonegizzle.

Char sighed with relief. "All right, thanks." The dog, named Retro, asked him his name. "My name's Char, it's nice to meet you, Retro." Char wagged his tail, happy to meet a new dog. "So, what's the council about today? You got any idea?" he asked Retro.

"Yes I do. Hunting down the twisted and broken." Retro gulped. Hopefuly they didn't find his twisted paw. He made it as strait as possible. He wondered if this dog found out that he would tell on him? He would be rewarded too. Retro shivered afriad of this dog, now not trusting almost anyone.

Char knit his eyebrows as he looked over the twisted paw. "Now, why would they hurt the hurt" Char smiled kindly at Retro. "Let me take a closer look," Char took his paw and lifted Retro's. "Hmm," Char said "it's a bit swollen," He put the paw back down. "I could helped you out with that." Char looked at Retro's face. He seemed somewhat worried. Char remembered about being told their was a reward for discovering a dog with who had broken or twisted bones or was hurt. He shook the thought out of his head. "Hey, just in case," Char whispered "I could never tell anyone about you for a stinkin' reward." he smiled. "After council, meet me at the barn, I'll help fix up your paw, okay?" Char smiled kindly at Retro.
