Kestrelclaw blinked open his tired eyes. Almost immediately, he realized that he wasn't at camp in the warriors' den, and wondered briefly what had happened. Then he remembered. He had taken Ivycloud through the underground tunnels at Moonhigh and shown her the cluster of crystals that had formed in a small cave that connected to the tunnels. She had loved it, just as he knew she would, and had confessed her love to him only a moment after, to which he admitted his own love for the pretty she-cat. He couldn't help but break into a rumbly purr as these memories tumbled through his mind. He and Ivycloud had known each other from the moment they first came into this world, and had been nothing less than best friends ever since, but when had they developed these feelings for each other? He wasn't quite sure, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was that they loved each other. Kestrelclaw lay on the floor for a while, gazing up at the tiny hole that moonlight had entered the night before, lighting up the crystals. Although it was morning now, the hole looked almost completely dark. It was hard to see even the faintest trace of morning sunshine seeping through it, and Kestrelclaw supposed that this was because the sun was probably only just beginning to rise. After all, even the moon wouldn't shine through the hole until it was Moonhigh. It had to be in just the right position, otherwise it appeared completely dark. After a few minutes, Kestrelclaw stretched his legs and sat up with a yawn. "Mornin', Ivycloud," he meowed softly to his friend.
"Hey, wait for me!" Cinderpaw yowled after him. She raced after him and pulled herself up the tree as fast as she could.
Ivycloud blinked a few times and got up to stretch. "G'morning, Kestrelclaw," she purred. Last night's events rushed back to her.
