Mudwhisker yawned, his white teeth glinting in the afternoon light. As he closed his maw, he licked his lips and slowly lifted himself up, then leaned forward in a stretching position. His claws extended outwards, brushing softly past the fresh moss in the den. Shaking himself out to wake up, he stumbled out into the bright light.
The sun hurt his eyes, but he didn't mind. Head lowered and eyes squinted, he made his way clumsily to the freshkill pile in search of a cure to his grumbling stomach. A delicious mouse was located near the edge of the pile, which he scooped up in his jaws, but dropped. His brow furrowed, he leaned back down again to pick it up and missed, his jaw instead scratching on the ground. Empty-mouthed, tears welled to his eyes, making them shine.
"W-why am I m-missing? This isn't supposed to h-happen!" He began crying softly, wiping his eyes with his soft forepaw.

bubblekkit ran up to mudwhisker.
'are you an apocalypse pumpkin?'
he asked.

Mudwhisker's golden eyes widened at the sight of the tiny kitten before him. He stopped crying and his fur began bristling. Scooting backwards on his haunches across the dusty ground, he began growling in a mumbling sort of way.
"Why are you so small? What's an apocalypse? What's happening!!" Mudwhisker meowed in panic as he stopped scooting back. The older cat's pupils were in slits as he sat still, staring off into the distance.

Mudwhisker yelped in fright and began stumbling through the camp as soon as he felt the pinpricks of Bubblekit's tiny teeth and claws pierce into his tail. Quivering, he looked about the camp in terror. His claws were out and his tail was bushed up.
"I'm not an apocalypse pumpkin, I'm... I'm, uh..." He shook his head as he lost his train of thought. "What was I saying?"
