Jericho's trance was broken by the sound of a slap, accompanied by the smell of blood. His eyes widened at the Maiden as she backed away in fear, and before looking behind him he heard the sound of the human's voice. It was full of malicious intent, and Jericho immediately put up his guards. Turning around, so that his back now faced the Flower, he saw the red haired man standing there. His hand was dripping with blood, and Jericho followed his gaze to the wolf-dog who was staring him down.
Her again, he thought. The others must be close by. But wait, she knows him? And he..
Coming to realize the situation at hand, Jericho became overly possessive. He heard the Human talking about the Flower, and watched as he beckoned to her to follow. Jericho, usually calm and collected, joined the wolf-dog at her side, and getting into a defensive stance he let out a long, angry growl that resonated from deep within him. He was a full-grown wolf, and though he appeared to be wounded, he was daunting. Whether or not the others arrived soon, Jericho knew that if it came down to it he would fight to the death to defend the Flower, and being the protective type, he would see to it that nothing happened to the wolf-dog either.
It was a strange feeling rising within him, a violent, instinctive rage. He flashed his teeth at the human, his nose crinkling as his lips pulled back to reveal the terrible fangs.
He's not going anywhere with any of us. I don't know who this man is, or what he wants, but from this moment forward I will make it my oath to protect them. At all costs.
Taking a step forward, the full-sized wolf locked eyes on the human. It wasn't until the sirens went off and more humans entered the room that Jericho began to think rationally again.
"Are you alright there?" He asked the wolf-dog. "Because I'm going to need you now. When I give the signal, grab the Maiden and get her out of here. Both of you, get as far away as possible, you understand?"
Just then the humans approached in crowds. Many of them had nets, others had guns tucked away. Jericho watched their hands closely, and when the moment was right he sprung in the air with a deep, vicious bark.
"Now, wolf-dog!"
Landing on the red-haired human, Jericho barked and snapped at his face. He heard a commotion all around him, and sharp metallic claws clasped around his neck. The humans struggled to restrain him. A sharp pain shot into his back like a needle, his pupils contracting as the shock reached his brain. He saw the smirking face of the red-haired man double, then triple as Jericho's vision blurred and his world went black.

The Lunar Flower....I've finally found her....
after all this time....
She's safe now...with the others...
That's all that matters...
The floor that they dragged him across was cold and hard. The chattering voices had a tone of fear in them.
"What if they wake up! You heard Dereon, why don't we just kill them now!?"
Beside the wolf, the wolf dog was being dragged by two other men. She had been given something to sedate her.
The rookie was cowering behind the men, hesitant to look at the wolves, let alone place a hand on them to help the others.
"Are you kidding?" Chimed in another "These are the first wolves I've seen in the City, or, ever! My grandfather used to tell me stories about them, about how they were thought to have gone extinct years ago, but in fact may quiet possibly still be around, hiding in plain sight, living all around us."
"Do you think there is really such a place as Paradise? Do the wolves really know how to find it, like legend says?" Asked the shorter, stouter man with the cap, fiddling with the keys in his hands.
"Listen guys," the coward interrupted "I really don't think it's gonna matter much when the wolves wakes up a-a-and, kills us all or something!"
"Oh, would you just give it a rest? Why don't you just shut up and help. You are so useless."
The men dragged the wolves to the end of the hall where they came to a door. The man with the keys walked up ahead of them and shuffled through the keys until he found the right one. Unlocking the door, the three men looked all around them before they entered.
"Put him on the table over there" Said one of the men, who appeared to be the highest ranking of the bunch.
"What about the wolf-dog?" asked the one with the keys.
"Bring her too." He said, absent minded as he focused on something else.
The two others proceeded to lift the giant wolf.
"Darn it all! He weighs a bloody ton!"
Their hands dug into the wolfs sides and legs, the wolf's head dangling as they lifted him. Placing him on the table, the two men groaned. "Why aren't you helping?" One of them asked the leader.
"I am." He said, smiling. "Once I get this computer set up I'm going to run some tests. We're going to find out more about these fascinating creatures. Think of it, what if the legend is true? What would people pay to enter a Paradise on Earth? This is a big question, one that must be answered."
The men laughed and cheered as the wolves lay unconscious. As they patted themselves on the back, the larger wolf began to stir.
"I think this deserves a toast. What do you say we go out and celebrate our imminent fame at Sal's Tavern?"
"..I will make it my oath to protect them. At all costs."
One of the men drew closer, placing his hand on the wolfs head and posing. "Hey, take a picture of me with the wolf!"
"Ha!" laughed one of the others, taking out a polaroid and aiming it "Say victory!"
"I will make it my oath..At all costs."
visions of a girl with brown hair and eyes appeared in Jericho's head. They were concerned, and her voice was faintly detectable
"Jericho.." he heard the voice say.
With the flash of the polaroid, Jericho's eyes shot open. His heart jumped within him as a wave of energy suddenly shot throughout his being, sending him flying off the table. He landed on his feet before the men, growling. His vision was still hazy, and he felt drugged. The three men appeared as a larger group as Jericho's vision was still blurred. The men sought to seize him, and he jumped on one of them, knocking him to the ground.

Jericho looked around. His feet were shaky beneath him, and he was struggling. The blood soaking up in the bandage around his head was beginning to leak out again, a drop of crimson falling between his paws. Despite the state he was in, he stood his ground, staring the men down through furious blue eyes. Fortunately for him the two men retreated. They ran out of the room, leaving the door open and the ring of keys on the floor.
Jericho watched as they ran off, taking only a moment to catch his breath. He walked over to the keys on the floor, realizing they would come in handy he took them. Shifting to human form, he made a quick plan in his head. Looking to his left, he found the wolf-dog laying seemingly lifeless on the ground. Jericho walked over to her. He stooped down quickly and put his human hand on her shoulder. He could see she was breathing, and her eyes were moving. He let out a sigh.
"We've gotta stop meeting like this." He managed to laugh. But becoming more grave, he narrowed his eyes at her. "Can you manage to shift forms? We need to get out now."
Putting his arms under the wolf-dog and scooping her up, he held her in his arms and ran out the door. Looking left, then right, then left again, he ran down the corridor, the keys he was holding between his teeth. He carried the wolf dog until she was able to shift.
