Snowfrost:
Stonefur, the sea clan deputy, had just assigned me a lone hunting mission. Not many animals were on the island, sometimes birds would be somewhere up in the trees. There are such thing as mice or rats that live on the beach, but I haven't seen any. To get a better meal for her new clan, she would not bring back the crabs that scuttled along the shore. A mangrove forest is like a nursery for all the fish. Fish hatch there, they live there until they are old enough to leave, then they come back to lay their eggs, there, circle of life. Most of the fish here are small, but don't be surprised when you see big or giant fish, they know where all the food is. There are sharks here, but they are just babies. Some "babies" can get around 2-3 feet. All of them would love to get their, uh, flippers on a cat like me. In the trees, I saw a white egret with two small chicks. Thats the ticket! I thought. I jumped up onto a tree branch, then down, weaving through the roots of the mangroves. I had to move slow, or else the water might splash, even though the water was around a foot deep. I was so close, I could smell it. The chicks were too young to fly, so I aimed for the older one, first. I got into a low crouch, slowly but gently, I crawled over to the egret. I leaped, it whipped its head around, showing a long, sharp beak. A came down onto its neck, the beak-weapon just grazing my shoulder. It stung a bit. The chicks scurried off, now that they know I'm here, I can just chase them! I wove through the roots of the mangroves, finishing off one, then the other, just as quickly. This had been a very successful hunt, very successful indeed.
