Dawn was rapidly approaching and although the sun had yet to rise above the valley's crest, birds began to stir and bring life to the cool morning with their songs. A light sand colored tabby walked put of a shelter of brambles with another, silver tabby with a white face following behind. The first, Desertsong, looked back to make sure the third warrior, Rainshine, of the dawn patrol was following, signaled with her tail to get an apprentice. Once everyone was ready, Desertsong led the patrol put of camp through the foliage and cattails surrounding the camp as a barrier, then out from under the vines of the weeping willow.
Meanwhile, to the south a morning fog hung thickly over the swampland that were home to Nightclan. A white shape leaped through the fog, running skillfully over the exposed roots of trees and over fallen logs and rocks. The she cat's silvery pelt blended in almost perfectly with the thick fog, while she stood out like snow on asphalt in the shadows. Suddenly she stopped, mouth a gaped as she scented the air, ears flicking as they listened. Then they came, in a swarm of twittering, squeaking and flapping. Ghoststar bunched her muscles as she waited for them to pass overhead, when the black cloud finally did, she sprang uo with claws ready. Her claws caught one of the creatures and the cat landed with the bat squirming beneath her, she quickly ended it's suffering.
The leader of Nightclan then looked up and around, seeking out the rest of the hunting party.
Nestled against the warm body of his mother, a kit slept peacefully. Whispkit's paws occasionally would twitch as he dreamed, otherwise he was sound asleep unaware of the patrols waking and going about their duties.
Toadlily slept deeply in the Warriors den of Breezeclan, her snoring deep and raspy. The old she cat was definitely out of her prime and deserved to retire, however her stubbornness kept her in the Warriors den.
