Swallowstar stifled a hairball, trying to forget the image of the flames curling around all that he had known and all that he had loved. These memories made his hair stand up on end and his tail shudder. "Perhaps we should change the subject, it's such a gloomy matter, one I've been trying to bury since."

"Not at all." mewed Swallowstar. "It is late, I should be getting back." He nodded at Fallensnow before padding away with the utmost silence.

"Yeah... bye.." Fallensnow turned back and sat in her den and sighed.

"I shouldn't have even mentioned about the fire.. I made Swallowstar sad and made him remember the burden he had to take.." Fallensnow muttered, angered at herself.

I quietly backed out of the nursery and padded towards the fresh-kill pile.

He sighed and padded out of the medicine den and towards the lake that borders their camp. He looks down at his reflection in the water and feels tears start to form behind his eyes. No I can't let the rest see me like this, it'll only create panic. he thought sadly to himself before looking up and padding to his den.
