"Really? Cause doing this is going to get us in trouble no matter what. We both still have yet to go to a gathering, and I'd like to meet some other Clan cats other than ThunderClan warriors. We are so close to becoming warriors, and Father still hasn't chosen either of us to go to on of the gatherings," Brackenpaw meowed, stopping in his tracks.

Shadowpaw bit her lip. "Yeah, but if we go today, we'll only meet shadow clan, and if we don't, we'll meet Shadowclan, Riverclan, and wind clan. But..."

"Hmmm..." Brackenpaw thought a little bit. "Well, I guess it can't be too long before father has to take us to one of the gatherings. I mean, we are almost warriors, and every apprentice has to go a gathering before they become a warrior. Also the moonpool. Can't forget that tradition," Brackenpaw meowed. "Fine, we'll wait until father finally chooses us to go to a gathering instead. The next gathering is supposed to be a few nights from now. The moon is nearly full."

(We can do a time skip to when Bramblestar is choosing who to go to the gathering in a couple posts.)

"Bramblestar, dear?" Squirrelflight hopped up onto the Highledge next to her mate and smiled. "I know it's not my place to decide how well the apprentices are doing- but some- like Brackenpaw and Shadowpaw... Are doing quite well for themselves and deserve some special recognition, like, maybe trying them out on an assessment?"

"They'll be getting their assessment very soon. But first I want to bring them to their first gathering," Bramblestar meowed.

Brackenpaw nodded. "Let's get back to camp. Father's probably wondering where we're at."

She nodded but then gave a long sigh, her emerald eyes gazing into her mate's. "I know we are getting old, and you may out-live me... But before we get elderly- I would like to have a second litter of kits. Brackenpaw and Shadowpaw were such a joy and I loved nursing them, but I miss the feeling of tiny kits pawing my belly... And the warmth I provide their tiny, fluffy bodies after birth!"

(Their kits are Brackenpaw, Gingerpaw, and Firepaw. Shadowpaw is a friend of Brackenpaw's. She had a different mother. c:)

Brackenpaw began to head back toward camp. "I know Father will be naming who goes to the gathering soon. Tomorrow probably. If anything, he's already decided. I just hope that we are one of the apprentices chosen to come."
